cleanuparr-mcp AGENTS.md

cleanuparr-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from arr-mcps/cleanuparr-mcp. It costs 1,282 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for developing cleanuparr-mcp, an MCP server that exposes Cleanuparr's REST API—a web interface for inspecting and managing a Cleanuparr service.

In plain words
What is it for?
For inspecting status, history, statistics, jobs, and configuration through Cleanuparr, and for testing request formatting and tool callability during development.
Why use it?
They give coding agents guidance on the server's design, tests, release process, and required environment settings.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01282 $0.01282
Opus 5 $0.00641 $0.00641
Sonnet 5 $0.00256 $0.00256
Haiku 4.5 $0.00128 $0.00128

Security

Grade A, and why

cleanuparr-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md — cleanuparr-mcp

MCP server exposing Cleanuparr's REST API as tools for inspecting status, history, statistics, jobs, and configuration. Uses FastMCP, uv for deps.

Exposed as 8 resource-scoped portmanteau tools, not one tool per endpoint — see "Portmanteau registration" below. A prior version registered all 84 endpoints individually; that blew the MCP context budget (~84 tools × ~250 tokens ≈ 21k tokens just for this one server) and has been retired.

Testing

  • Offline suite: make test (or uv run pytest)
  • Live integration (needs CLEANUPARR_URL/CLEANUPARR_API_KEY): make test-integration
  • tests/test_tools.py has two layers: ~40 hand-written assertions on exact request shape (method/path/body/query) for a subset of operations, plus test_every_tool_is_callable — a generic, introspection-driven smoke test that calls every operation with type-appropriate dummy args and confirms it makes some well-formed HTTP request. The smoke test exists because only ~38/84 endpoints had ever been individually verified; rather than guess at Cleanuparr's DTO shapes for the rest, it gives real execution coverage of the URL-templating/body-marshaling code paths without asserting values this repo can't independently verify.

Release workflow

Always use the make bump-* targets to bump the version (uv version --bump patch|minor|major), which updates pyproject.toml and uv.lock together. Do NOT edit the version by hand.

  • Bump: make bump-patch (or bump-minor / bump-major)
  • Commit message is just the version, e.g. 0.1.2 — nothing else.
  • Tag it v<version> (e.g. v0.1.2).
  • Push main and the tag:
    git push origin main
    git push origin v<version>

  • Then sync the project copy:
    cd /home/savagecore/Documents/christopfarr/mcp/cleanuparr-mcp
git fetch origin && git reset --hard origin/main

  • Deploy to the Proxmox host (root SSH key): pull the repo then reinstall the uv tool:
ssh [email protected] -- 'cd /root/cleanuparr-mcp && git fetch origin && git reset --hard origin/main'
ssh [email protected] -- 'cd /root/cleanuparr-mcp && uv tool install --force .'

The host runs it via uv tool install/root/.local/bin/cleanuparr-mcp (not from the repo).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
