auto-uv-env AGENTS.md

auto-uv-env AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from ashwch/auto-uv-env. It costs 3,245 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Contributor instructions for auto-uv-env, a tool that creates, activates, and deactivates Python virtual environments as users move between directories. It describes how the main program and shell adapters work together.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing the auto-uv-env executable, its Bash, Zsh, or Fish integrations, the repository layout, or its environment-activation lifecycle.
Why use it?
It helps contributors preserve the project's separation between deciding what should happen and changing shell state. That separation also reduces the risk of unsafe shell-command injection.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.03245 $0.03245
Opus 5 $0.01622 $0.01622
Sonnet 5 $0.00649 $0.00649
Haiku 4.5 $0.00325 $0.00325

Security

Grade A, and why

auto-uv-env AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What This Repo Is

auto-uv-env is a shell integration tool that automatically creates, activates, and deactivates Python virtual environments using uv when users move between directories.

It is a small system with a strict contract:

  1. auto-uv-env (the main executable) decides what should happen and emits directives.
  2. Shell adapters (bash, zsh, fish) decide how to apply those directives in the current shell process.

This split keeps shell state mutation out of the main executable and reduces command injection risk.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
