specflow AGENTS.md

Repository instructions for Specflow, a development process that guides an AI agent through questioning, writing a specification, building, and checking the result. They also define how the project supports Codex and Claude Code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when modifying or releasing the Specflow project, especially its skills, plugin files, agent policies, shared instructions, and validation setup.
Why use it?
They keep changes consistent with the repository's conventions and its reliability checks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00262 $0.00262
Opus 5 $0.00131 $0.00131
Sonnet 5 $0.00052 $0.00052
Haiku 4.5 $0.00026 $0.00026

Security

Grade A, and why

specflow AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

specflow — repository conventions for Codex

specflow supports both Codex and Claude Code from the same skill source. The complete repository conventions, ownership rules, release checklist, and validation requirements are maintained in CLAUDE.md. Read and follow that file before changing this repository.

Codex-specific rules:

  • Preserve the existing Claude Code frontmatter fields (disable-model-invocation and argument-hint) where present. Codex requires name and description and uses agents/openai.yaml for its policy; the shared frontmatter keeps Claude's behavior intact.
  • Keep agents/openai.yaml in every promoted skill. User-invoked skills set policy.allow_implicit_invocation: false; model-invoked skills omit that policy or leave it true.
  • Codex distributes specflow through .codex-plugin/plugin.json and .agents/plugins/marketplace.json; keep both manifests versioned with package.json. It also discovers repository skills through .agents/skills and user skills through ~/.agents/skills; use scripts/link-skills.sh to create safe user-level symlinks during development.
  • Preserve .claude-plugin/ and its validation: it remains the Claude Code distribution channel.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
