PocketMCP: Instructions file for Gemini CLI

GEMINI.md

PocketMCP GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from axonixtools/PocketMCP. It costs 1,249 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for PocketMCP, an Android app that turns a phone into a server that desktop AI agents can call. They describe its Kotlin app, network connections, phone controls, notifications, sensors, and message-handling protocol.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when building or modifying PocketMCP, including its Android interface, server connections, phone automation, notifications, and sensor tools.
Why use it?
They give an agent the project structure and technical context needed to make changes without guessing how the Android app and server fit together.

This is axonixtools/PocketMCP's own configuration. It tells Gemini CLI how to work on PocketMCP itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything PocketMCP configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01249 $0.01249
Opus 5.5 $0.00500 $0.00500
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00250 $0.00250
Haiku 4.5 $0.00125 $0.00125

Measured 20d ago against content hash f8700dc16864, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

PocketMCP GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 20d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

PocketMCP — Gemini CLI Context

This project turns an Android device into a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, exposing phone capabilities (sensors, notifications, app automation) to desktop AI agents.

Project Overview

  • Type: Android Application (Kotlin) + MCP Server.
  • Key Technologies:
    • Language: Kotlin 2.2.10.
    • Server: Ktor 2.3.7 (Netty engine) supporting HTTP POST, SSE, and WebSockets.
    • UI: Jetpack Compose (Material 3).
    • Automation: Android AccessibilityService for UI interaction and NotificationListenerService for monitoring.
    • Protocol: MCP Protocol version 2024-11-05.

Core Architecture

  1. Server Layer (com.pocketmcp.server): The Ktor-based McpServer handles JSON-RPC requests, transport management (SSE/WS), and tool dispatching.
  2. Service Layer (com.pocketmcp.service): McpServerService runs as an Android foreground service to ensure the server remains active. It also handles mDNS discovery.
  3. Tool Layer (com.pocketmcp.tools): Individual MCP tools (35+) implementing the McpToolHandler interface.
  4. Agent Layer (com.pocketmcp.agent): Experimental orchestration layer for multi-step "humanoid" automation tasks.
  5. Accessibility (com.pocketmcp.accessibility): PhoneAccessibilityService provides the "eyes and hands" for UI automation.

Building and Running

Prerequisites

  • Android SDK (API 34).
  • Java 17+ (for Gradle).

Key Commands

  • Build Debug APK: ./gradlew assembleDebug
  • Run Unit Tests: ./gradlew testDebugUnitTest
  • Install APK: adb install -r app/build/outputs/apk/debug/app-debug.apk
  • Clean Project: ./gradlew clean
  • Emulator Setup: powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\scripts\setup-emulator-mcp.ps1 (for port forwarding).
  • Run Bridge (Node.js, zero dependencies):
    cd mcp-bridge && node bridge.mjs --url http://<IP>:8080/mcp --api-key <KEY>
    # or one-command setup for AI coding tools:
    cd mcp-bridge && node setup.mjs

  • Instant command lane (no LLM): node scripts/pocket.mjs "torch on" — local phrase routing with chains (pocket "torch on and battery"); node scripts/pocket.mjs help prints the cheat sheet. Reads ~/.pocketmcp.json.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
