bsv-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

bsv-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from b-open-io/bsv-mcp. It costs 3,494 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for bsv-mcp, a server that lets AI assistants work with Bitcoin SV blockchain features. They cover setup, local development, testing, linting, and three deployment modes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing wallet, token, ordinal, identity, or social features, or when running the server locally, over HTTP, or as a Cloudflare Worker.
Why use it?
They give an agent the project-specific commands and constraints needed to build, run, check, and deploy the server correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03494 $0.03494
Opus 5 $0.01747 $0.01747
Sonnet 5 $0.00699 $0.00699
Haiku 4.5 $0.00349 $0.00349

Security

Grade A, and why

bsv-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

BSV MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that exposes Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain functionality to AI assistants. It provides tools for wallet operations, ordinals (NFTs), tokens, identity management, and social features through a modular architecture.

Current Version: 0.2.10

The project supports three deployment modes:

  1. Local MCP Server - Runs via stdio transport with OAuth 2.1 authentication
  2. HTTP Server (Streamable HTTP) - Runs as HTTP server using MCP 2025-03-26 Streamable HTTP spec with JWT validation
  3. CloudFlare Worker - Hosted implementation with OAuth 2.1 and Bitcoin-auth

Essential Commands

Local Development

# Install dependencies
bun install

# Build the project
bun build ./index.ts --outdir ./dist --target node

# Run locally (stdio mode for Claude Code)
bun run index.ts

# Run with environment variables
TRANSPORT=stdio USE_DROPLIT_API=true bun run index.ts

# Run tests
bun test

# Lint code
bun run lint

# Fix linting issues
bun run lint:fix

CloudFlare Worker Deployment

# Navigate to cloudflare directory
cd cloudflare

# Install dependencies
bun install

# Deploy the worker
wrangler deploy

# Check worker logs
wrangler tail

# Test locally
wrangler dev

Testing with Claude Code CLI

# Install as plugin (simplest)
claude plugin install bsv-mcp@b-open-io

# Or add manually via MCP CLI
claude mcp add bsv-mcp "bun run index.ts"

# List configured servers
claude mcp list

# Remove and re-add (useful after changes)
claude mcp remove bsv-mcp
claude mcp add bsv-mcp "bun run index.ts"

CloudFlare Frontend (Next.js)

cd cloudflare/frontend

# Development
bun dev

# Build
bun run build

# Lint
bun run lint

Core Architecture

Entry Point

  • index.ts: Main server initialization with stdio or Streamable HTTP transport
    • Key initialization with SecureKeyManager
    • Transport mode detection (stdio/http)
    • Conditional tool/prompt/resource registration based on env vars
    • createConfiguredServer() factory produces a fully-wired McpServer instance
    • HTTP mode: one McpServer + WebStandardStreamableHTTPServerTransport per session (session-per-request model); sessions tracked by mcp-session-id header
    • Single /mcp endpoint handles all MCP traffic (GET, POST, DELETE); OAuth discovery at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource and /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
