blender-chatgpt-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

blender-chatgpt-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from bakaroart/blender-chatgpt-mcp. It costs 528 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for blender-chatgpt-mcp, which connects an AI client to Blender, a 3D creation application, through an MCP server and a Blender add-on. They describe the architecture, commands, coding rules, and security requirements.

In plain words
What is it for?
For guiding development, building, linting, testing, packaging, and integration work across the TypeScript MCP server, Python Blender add-on, and their local bridge.
Why use it?
They help coding agents make changes that fit the project's connection model, Blender's main-thread requirements, supported version, and validation process.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00528 $0.00528
Opus 5 $0.00264 $0.00264
Sonnet 5 $0.00106 $0.00106
Haiku 4.5 $0.00053 $0.00053

Security

Grade A, and why

blender-chatgpt-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

blender-chatgpt-mcp Agent Notes

Architecture

Codex connects directly to the local TypeScript Streamable HTTP MCP server at 127.0.0.1:3000/mcp; ChatGPT connector setups can reach the same endpoint through Secure MCP Tunnel. The MCP server validates tool inputs with Zod, sends authenticated JSON envelopes to the Blender bridge at 127.0.0.1:8765, and returns MCP structuredContent plus concise text. The Blender add-on runs a standard-library ThreadingHTTPServer; HTTP worker threads authenticate, parse, validate, and enqueue only. Blender API calls happen from the bpy.app.timers queue drain on Blender's main thread.

Commands

  • npm install
  • npm run dev
  • npm run build
  • npm run start
  • npm run lint
  • npm run typecheck
  • npm test
  • npm run test:integration
  • npm run test:blender
  • npm run package:addon
  • npm run check

Coding Conventions

  • Keep TypeScript strict and avoid any.
  • Keep pure Python modules importable without bpy.
  • Use fixed operation names and typed schemas only.
  • Target Blender 5.1+ behavior; do not claim older Blender compatibility without tests.
  • Prefer Blender data APIs; use bpy.ops only for narrow operations that need Blender context.
  • Keep bridge responses structured and stable.

Security Invariants

  • No arbitrary Python, shell, Blender operator, module, property-path, or generic attribute execution.
  • Bridge binds only to 127.0.0.1.
  • MCP defaults to 127.0.0.1; non-loopback bind is development-only and unsupported for public deployment.
  • Every bridge command requires a bearer token compared with constant-time comparison.
  • File writes stay under the configured Blender project root.
  • Do not log tokens, raw environment values, base64 image bodies, prompt text, or full scene dumps.
  • Mutations are never retried automatically after ambiguous failures.
  • Do not add OpenAI API calls or OPENAI_API_KEY requirements. Codex usage should work through ChatGPT/Codex sign-in and plan quota; BLENDER_BRIDGE_TOKEN is only a local bridge token.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
