velocity.report: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

velocity.report AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from banshee-data/velocity.report. It costs 5,416 tokens per session, scanned B, original, Apache-2.0.

A repository instruction file for coding agents working on the velocity.report project. It defines where project knowledge belongs, how to record experiment findings, what raw outputs must stay local, and which quality checks every commit must pass.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to guide changes in the repository, document experiment methods and findings, link reports from project records, and enforce the required checks before commits.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents one shared source of project rules instead of scattered instructions. It preserves useful experiment evidence while preventing bulky raw data from entering Git.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions Claude Code.

This is banshee-data/velocity.report's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on velocity.report itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything velocity.report configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.05416 $0.05416
Opus 5.5 $0.02166 $0.02166
Sonnet 5.5 $0.01083 $0.01083
Haiku 4.5 $0.00542 $0.00542

Security

Grade B, and why

velocity.report AGENTS.md scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

If `make build-radar-local` fails due to missing pcap: `brew install libpcap` (macOS) or `sudo apt-get install libpcap-dev` (Linux).

Repository instructions

This is the canonical repository-wide guide for coding agents. Tool-specific entry points import or link to this file; update shared agent instructions here rather than copying them into wrappers.

Read the coding standards for repository conventions. Domain-specific knowledge remains in its canonical module under .github/knowledge/; reference that module when adding guidance instead of restating its rules here.

Keep experiment findings in Git and raw outputs local

Commit detailed, human-readable experiment reports in docs/. Preserve the question, methods, arm definitions, numerical findings (including per-case summaries where they affect the decision), interpretation, limitations, frozen provenance, and recommendations. Reports must distinguish observed measurements from physical validation and explain what the evidence does not establish. Link reports from the relevant README, plan, and development-log entry. A report is part of the engineering record, not disposable output; do not remove it when cleaning up raw results.

Never commit raw experiment, replay, analysis, or benchmark outputs on any branch or PR. Recordings, row-level data, generated metric/configuration dumps, runtime logs, coverage output, database snapshots, and campaign state belong outside the checkout or in ignored local output directories. Do not attach raw output to a report or rename it into docs/ to evade this rule. Edited summary tables and numerical findings that explain the experiment belong in the written report.

Directories named results at any depth are local output only. Never stage them, create a raw results branch, or bypass the ignore rule with git add -f. Keep reusable implementation and hand-authored test fixtures in their normal source locations. Reports must be readable without links to untracked repository output; describe archived evidence and retain provenance identifiers without importing raw artefacts.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
