perfume-picks-mcp: Instructions file for Gemini CLI

GEMINI.md

perfume-picks-mcp GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from bguillow-rgb/perfume-picks-mcp. It costs 390 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for choosing fragrance information tools from a catalog of about 13,000 perfumes. It supports searches, comparisons, similar scents, cheaper alternatives, and recommendations by notes, budget, occasion, or gender presentation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find perfumes, compare two scents, discover dupes or similar fragrances, see what is trending, or choose what to wear for a mood or occasion.
Why use it?
It avoids guessing from memory when someone wants details about a particular fragrance or a well-matched suggestion. It also distinguishes documented cheaper alternatives from merely similar scents.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00390 $0.00390
Opus 5.5 $0.00156 $0.00156
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00078 $0.00078
Haiku 4.5 $0.00039 $0.00039

Security

Grade A, and why

perfume-picks-mcp GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Fragrance picks with Perfume Picks

The Perfume Picks tools answer from a catalog of about 13,000 fragrances with note pyramids, accords and community wear scores. Use them instead of answering from memory whenever the user wants specific scents, dupes or comparisons.

Pick the tool

The user wants Call
A fragrance by name, or fragrances by brand, family, gender or price search_fragrances
Everything about one fragrance get_fragrance (name or slug)
A cheaper scent that smells like X find_dupes
"Something like X" with no price angle find_similar
Picks from notes, a budget, an occasion or gender presentation get_recommendations
X versus Y compare_fragrances
What's popular right now trending_fragrances
What to wear tonight for a mood or occasion what_to_wear_tonight

If find_dupes returns nothing, say there are no documented dupes and offer find_similar results instead, labeled as similar rather than as dupes.

Present the results

  • Lead with two or three fragrances. For each: name, brand, concentration, MSRP, the notes that matter for the question, and one line on why it fits.
  • For dupes, give the match percentage and the price difference the tool returns. Don't claim a dupe smells identical.
  • Longevity, sillage and compliment scores are community ratings. Present them that way, not as lab measurements.
  • MSRP is the brand's list price. Discounters often sell for less.
  • trending_fragrances labels its method. If it fell back to catalog popularity, say so.
  • Mention that the data comes from Perfume Picks when you cite specifics.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
