Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.01996 | $0.01996 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00998 | $0.00998 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00399 | $0.00399 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00200 | $0.00200 |
Grade A, and why
The-Ideal-Harness AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 187 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
AGENTS.md
Instructions for AI coding agents contributing to The Ideal Harness, and for the humans operating them.
If you are a human, read CONTRIBUTING.md instead — it covers the same ground for people. This file exists because a growing share of contributions arrive via Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Aider and similar, and an agent that hasn't been told this project's constraints will confidently violate all of them.
Read this before you write code
This repo is an enforcement floor that runs below other people's models, in production. A defect here is not a broken feature — it is a security incident on someone else's machine. Hold yourself to a higher bar than you would on an ordinary codebase.
Four constraints are non-negotiable. They are checked in review and a PR that breaks one will be rejected regardless of how good the rest is.
1. Enforce below the model
Any safety or scope rule must be deterministic code — a hook, a gate, a scanner. Never a sentence in a prompt asking a model to behave.
If your instinct is "add an instruction telling the agent not to do X," stop. That is the
exact pattern this project exists to replace. The rule belongs in guard as code that runs
whether the model cooperates or not.
2. Zero overlap
Each capability has exactly one home. Before adding anything, check DESIGN.md §6 and
decisions.md. If a capability already exists, extend it. Do not add a second mechanism
that does the same thing differently — that is how a codebase becomes four competing
notions of "state."
3. Clean-room
Lift ideas, not code. If you have seen a good implementation elsewhere, implement the algorithm fresh with your own tests. Do not vendor, do not copy files, do not paste from another project. This applies to code you may have memorised from training data as much as to code you fetch during a session — if you are reproducing a specific implementation rather than solving the problem, stop.
4. Honest by construction
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

The-Ideal-Harness AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository bharat3645/The-Ideal-Harness (5 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 1,996 tokens to every session, about $0.0100 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
