Slopnought: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

Slopnought AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from bhumitschaudhry/Slopnought. It costs 371 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for Slopnought, a code-maintainability tool for making AI-written code easier to understand, extend, test, secure, and maintain. It describes how its skills and modes are loaded by coding agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when generating code or auditing and refactoring an existing codebase with Slopnought.
Why use it?
It gives the coding agent guidance for producing maintainable code and checking common problems in AI-generated code.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00371 $0.00371
Opus 5 $0.00186 $0.00186
Sonnet 5 $0.00074 $0.00074
Haiku 4.5 $0.00037 $0.00037

Measured 7d ago against content hash 909bf3f030f2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

Slopnought AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Slopnought — Agent Instructions

What this is

Slopnought is a code maintainability skill that makes AI-generated code understandable, extensible, testable, secure, and maintainable. It works across multiple coding agents via a two-layer architecture: harness-agnostic skills and bootstrap injectors.

How skills work

  1. At session start, the bootstrap injector reads skills/slopnought/SKILL.md and injects it into the model's context wrapped in <EXTREMELY_IMPORTANT> tags.
  2. The bootstrap teaches the model that Slopnought exists, that it must be checked before acting, and how to use the agent's native tools.
  3. The model loads additional reference files (references/code-generation-mode.md, references/refactoring-mode.md, etc.) as needed during the session.

Skill modes

  • Code generation mode — for writing new code. Read references/code-generation-mode.md.
  • Codebase refactoring mode — invoked via /slopnought-audit. Read references/refactoring-mode.md.

Key reference files

  • references/anti-patterns.md — catalog of LLM code failure modes. Read once per session.
  • references/code-generation-mode.md — how to write maintainable new code.
  • references/refactoring-mode.md — how to audit and improve existing code.
  • references/architecture-records.md — when and how to write ADRs.
  • assets/adr-template.md — ADR template.

Adding to a new agent

To add Slopnought to a new coding agent:

  1. Create a bootstrap injection mechanism (hook, plugin, or context file)
  2. Create a manifest the agent recognizes
  3. Verify the bootstrap is injected at session start
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
