Agent Guide for BIRD Skills

This repository publishes five Agent Skills for BIRD routing-daemon projects. It contains static skill assets, Python helper scripts, plugin manifests, and an optional documentation-query MCP server. There is no application server.

Current contracts

  • bird.config.json is canonical; birdcc.config.json is a compatibility alias.
  • birdcc init . --dry-run --json is the read-only project detector.
  • birdcc lint --json returns an object containing a diagnostics array.
  • Cross-file analysis is enabled by default.
  • birdcc fmt --check is read-only; writes require explicit user approval.
  • The modern toolchain targets BIRD 2/3. BIRD 1 is best-effort and must be checked with the actual legacy binary.
  • VS Code language tooling is birdcc.bird2-lsp; TextMate syntax is birdcc.vscode-bird2-conf; the convenience pack is birdcc.bird2-extension-pack.
  • BIRD.nvim and BIRD.vim are current repository names. The bird2 runtime identifiers remain compatible.
  • JetBrains uses an imported TextMate bundle. Do not advertise dev.birdcc.idea.
  • setup-birdcc checks out by default and does not guarantee a global birdcc.
  • The published action ref is [email protected]; do not emit the currently absent @v1 major tag without re-verifying it.
  • There is no cache-pnpm input; pnpm-store caching is automatic when dependency installation is enabled, while cache-turbo controls only Turbo cache.
