bitrise-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

bitrise-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from bitrise-io/bitrise-mcp. It costs 339 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for the Bitrise MCP server, which lets a coding agent work with Bitrise tools. They describe where tools live, how they are registered, and which behavior details each tool must declare.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing the Bitrise MCP server, registering tools, setting tool behavior annotations, or updating its hand-maintained tool guide.
Why use it?
They give contributors a shared structure for adding or changing tools and keeping their documentation accurate.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00339 $0.00339
Opus 5.5 $0.00136 $0.00136
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00068 $0.00068
Haiku 4.5 $0.00034 $0.00034

Security

Grade A, and why

bitrise-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Bitrise MCP Server

Tool definitions

  • Tools live one-per-file under internal/tool/<group>/, each as a package-level var of type bitrise.Tool, and are registered in internal/tool/belt.go.
  • Every tool sets all four behavioral annotations (readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint, openWorldHint) plus a human-readable title.
  • openWorldHint is false for tools limited to the user's Bitrise account or workspace (the vast majority), and true only for tools that reach beyond it: writing to the git provider, emailing arbitrary addresses, sending data to arbitrary URLs, publishing to the public or to end-user devices. TestOpenWorldHintIsDeliberate pins the open-world set; add a tool to openWorld in internal/tool/belt_test.go when it qualifies.
  • docs/tools.md is hand-maintained (not generated) — update it manually when adding or changing tools.
  • Every tool exposes an output schema (TestEveryToolHasAnOutputSchema enforces it). A tool that builds its result in Go declares it with mcp.WithOutputSchema[T](); a tool that passes an API response through gets internal/tool/outputschema/schemas/<tool>.json, generated from the API's OpenAPI document by go run ./internal/tool/outputschema/gen — add the tool's operation to the mappings table there (and the fields the handler strips to Drop), then regenerate. The belt wraps such handlers so a JSON text result is also returned as structuredContent.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
