AGENTS.md

kirby-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from bnomei/kirby-mcp. It costs 860 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of repository instructions for Kirby MCP, a command-line tool that connects AI agents to Kirby CMS projects. It explains the code layout, local rules, commands, tests, and naming style.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing or maintaining Kirby MCP, especially when changing its MCP tools, command-line behavior, installation code, commands, tests, workflows, or bundled knowledge base.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents the project context they need before changing files. It also helps keep module-specific instructions, tests, and documentation aligned.

This is bnomei/kirby-mcp's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on kirby-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything kirby-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00860 $0.00860
Opus 5 $0.00430 $0.00430
Sonnet 5 $0.00172 $0.00172
Haiku 4.5 $0.00086 $0.00086

Security

Grade A, and why

kirby-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository Guidelines

Kirby MCP is a CLI-first MCP server for Kirby CMS (composer-based Kirby projects). This repo contains the PHP library, the kirby-mcp executable, and a bundled Markdown knowledge base.

Scoped Agent Guides (Keep in Sync)

When changing behavior in a scoped area, update that area’s AGENTS.md and any referenced tests/docs (often README.md):

  • src/Mcp/AGENTS.md – MCP tools/resources/contracts
  • src/Cli/AGENTS.md – Kirby CLI execution/parsing
  • src/Install/AGENTS.md – runtime install/update semantics
  • commands/mcp/AGENTS.md – runtime command templates
  • tests/Unit/AGENTS.md and tests/Integration/AGENTS.md – test conventions
  • kb/AGENTS.md – shipped knowledge base
  • .github/workflows/AGENTS.md – CI workflows

Note: tests/cms/ intentionally has no scoped AGENTS.md (it’s a generated fixture sandbox).

Project Structure & Module Organization

  • src/ – PSR-4 library code (Bnomei\\KirbyMcp\\*), grouped by concern: Mcp/, Cli/, Project/, Blueprint/, Docs/, Dumps/, Install/, Support/.
  • bin/kirby-mcp – development entrypoint (published as vendor/bin/kirby-mcp via Composer).
  • commands/mcp/ – Kirby CLI command wrappers installed into host projects by kirby-mcp install.
  • kb/ – bundled markdown knowledge base.
  • tests/ – Pest tests (tests/Unit, tests/Integration) with fixtures in tests/fixture and the generated Kirby site in tests/cms.

Build, Test, and Development Commands

  • composer install – install PHP deps (PHP ^8.2; CI currently runs on PHP 8.5).
  • composer mcp / bin/kirby-mcp – run the CLI locally.
  • composer test – run Pest (prepends tests/prepend.php).
  • composer analyse – run PHPStan (phpstan.neon.dist, level 8).
  • composer format – format PHP via Pint (PSR-12 preset).
  • npm ci && npm run format – format Markdown/YAML/JS via Prettier.

Coding Style & Naming Conventions

  • Indentation: PHP = 4 spaces; MD/YAML/JSON/JS = 2 spaces (see .editorconfig).
  • Classes follow PSR-4 (file name matches class); tests end with Test.php.
  • Don’t commit generated deps/artifacts: vendor/, node_modules/, .phpunit.cache/, .phpstan.cache/.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
