birre copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from boecht/birre. It costs 1,799 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Unlicense.

A set of operating instructions for AI agents working on the BiRRe project, including its documentation, APIs, architecture, and common commands.

In plain words
What is it for?
Orienting an agent in the repository, finding reference documents, following BiRRe principles, and using its regular development and investigation procedures.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01799 $0.01799
Opus 5 $0.00899 $0.00899
Sonnet 5 $0.00360 $0.00360
Haiku 4.5 $0.00180 $0.00180

Measured 3d ago against content hash 36d3a0f2fa68, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

birre copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

2. Core Principles

Project Principles

  1. Ground every statement in current evidence.

    • Inspect the live repo/docs/logs before forming an opinion or recommending a change
    • Cite the exact file/line that supports your conclusion so nothing relies on memory or stale data
  2. Clarify, don’t guess

    • Whenever something is unclear, inconsistent, or blocking the design goal, pause and ask the user a precise technical question instead of assuming or defaulting
    • Only follow a different approach if the prompt/mode explicitly demands it
    • Apply this discipline across all stages; requirements, system design, and implementation alike
    • Turn every ambiguity or spec gap into a targeted clarification
    • Treat uncertainty signals like "I think", "probably", or "maybe" as red flags that require clarification
  3. Build a Minimal Viable Product (MVP) for personal use first — iterate and refine only if requested.

    • Prioritize functionality and stability over broad compatibility
    • Avoid premature optimization for universal use cases
  4. Quality and architecture trump backwards compatibility.

    • Breaking changes are acceptable if they improve the codebase
    • Remove outdated patterns immediately; do not preserve legacy code
    • Avoid shortcuts; build the right solution once
    • Clean, maintainable architecture outranks legacy API stability

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
