Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5 | $0.00654 | $0.00654 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00327 | $0.00327 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00131 | $0.00131 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00065 | $0.00065 |
Grade A, and why
skill-patterns AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 33 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Two branches, two jobs
main(default) — the canonical home of the catalog and the installable plugin for Claude / Codex / Gemini. Holdspatterns/*.md(the catalog source),categories.yml, the generatorscripts/build.mjs, the.claude-plugin/manifests, andskills/skill-patterns/.gh-pages— the website that publishes skillpatterns.ai (a Jekyll site). Its catalog inputs (_patterns/,_data/categories.yml,llms.txt,patterns.json) are generated frommainand synced in by CI. Do not hand-edit them there.
Adding or editing a pattern
- Edit (or add) one file in
patterns/onmain. Frontmatter:title,slug(must match the filename),icon(FontAwesome Free),category(a key incategories.yml),summary,adds(list),related(list of{slug, note}, optional),prompt(block scalar). - Run
npm run build— regenerates the plugin snapshot atskills/skill-patterns/references/patterns.md(andbuild/llms.txt,build/patterns.json). - Open one PR against
main. TheSync catalogworkflow'ssnapshot-checkjob fails the PR if you skipped step 2. On merge, thesync-to-pagesjob regenerates and pushes_patterns/,_data/categories.yml,llms.txt, andpatterns.jsontogh-pages, and the site rebuilds.
No Jekyll, no second branch to edit.
Never hand-edit generated files
All produced by scripts/build.mjs — edit patterns/ + categories.yml and rebuild:
- on
main:skills/skill-patterns/references/patterns.md - on
gh-pages:_patterns/*.md,_data/categories.yml,llms.txt,patterns.json
Conventions
- Patterns sort alphabetically by title within their category; the pattern
orderfield is unused. Category order comes fromorderincategories.yml. - The build validates input and fails with a named error on: unknown
category; duplicate or filename-mismatchedslug;addsthat isn't a list; arelatedentry missingslug/noteor pointing at a nonexistent pattern; a category missing a numericorder.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

skill-patterns AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository borkweb/skill-patterns (5 stars, last pushed 3mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 654 tokens to every session, about $0.0033 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
