yourturn-template AGENTS.md

yourturn-template AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from brandonhorst/yourturn-template. It costs 475 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a template for online turn-based games. It uses Deno and Preact, with game rules in one directory and user-interface views in another.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when implementing game logic or screens, working with the yourturn library, and running linting, type checks, tests, or formatting.
Why use it?
They give developers the required project structure, commands, and type-documentation step needed to add a game and check it for errors.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00475 $0.00475
Opus 5 $0.00237 $0.00237
Sonnet 5 $0.00095 $0.00095
Haiku 4.5 $0.00047 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

yourturn-template AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

yourturn-template

This is a template for implementing an online turn-based game web app using a library called yourturn (https://jsr.io/@brandonhorst/yourturn). It uses Deno Fresh v2, Preact v10, Tailwind v4, DaisyUI v5.

Implementing Games

Games are built with game logic in the game directory, by implementing yourturn types. Before starting, access the yourturn type documentation by running this shell command: deno doc jsr:@brandonhorst/yourturn/types. You will need to use these types to build the game.

For the processMove function and the optional refresh function, it is highly recommended to use immer library (as shown in all examples). Also, use the Deno Standard Library when necessary. @std/random is particularly useful for games.

The UI is built using Preact views. These views live in the components directory. The root views are GameView in gameviews.tsx, and LobbyView in lobbyviews.tsx.

After creating a game, makes sure to lint/typecheck it and fix errors.

Commands

  • Lint/Typecheck: deno lint
  • Test: deno test
  • Format: deno fmt

Project Structure

  • Fresh/Deno project, routes, islands, components, and static are all standard Deno Fresh directories.
  • Deno KV database is used for persistent storage, but this is handled by the yourturn library itself.
  • WebSockets are used for game state communication, but this is handled by the yourturn library itself.

In general, to build a game, the islands and routes directories will not need to be touched. They govern the URL structure of the pages and WebSockets. If you do need to modify them in order to change the URL structure or something like that, you can access the documentation with one of these shell commands: deno doc jsr:@brandonhorst/yourturn/server, deno doc jsr:@brandonhorst/yourturn/hooks.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
