Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00866 | $0.00866 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00433 | $0.00433 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00173 | $0.00173 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00087 | $0.00087 |
Grade A, and why
spud-coach CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 54 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Brotato Coach / datamining — project guide
Two deliverables live here:
- A datamining archive of Brotato (
extracted/data +recovered/decompiled code). - The Brotato coach — a deterministic theorycrafter shipped as an MCP server
(Python package
brotato_coach), public at https://github.com/brendanlefebvre/spud-coach (MIT).
Build & test
- Python 3.11+, managed with uv.
uv syncto set up;uv run pytestto test (TDD is the norm — write the failing test first);uv run ruff check .to lint (ruff is a dev dependency; keep it green). - Build the dataset:
uv run python build_dataset.py.--game-versionauto-detects fromrecovered/singletons/progress_data.gd'sVERSIONconstant;--generated-atdefaults to the current UTC time. Pass either explicitly to override (e.g. a pinned/reproducible build). - Run the MCP server:
uv run python -m brotato_coach.server(cwd must be the repo root).
Releases & deployment
- Site (spudcoach.fyi): Netlify auto-deploys the
site/directory on every push to main (rootnetlify.toml). No GitHub Action involved — pushing to main IS the site deploy. - PyPI + MCP registry:
.github/workflows/publish.ymlruns only on published GitHub releases (vX.Y.Ztags) — tests, build, PyPI publish, then MCP registry viaserver.json. - Naming: the MCP server / PyPI distribution / console script are
spudcoach; the import package staysbrotato_coach. The repo dir isspud-coach.
CRITICAL: never commit or redistribute the dataset
data/brotato.json is derived from Brotato's copyrighted game files. It is gitignored and was
purged from git history; the public repo ships zero game data. Do NOT re-add or commit it —
regenerate it locally via build_dataset.py from your own extraction. Same for extracted/,
recovered/, and game_files/ (all gitignored).
Architecture (one-way data flow)
- The build step (
build_dataset.py+brotato_coach/builders/) is the only code that readsextracted/. - The MCP server reads only
data/brotato.json— never.tres. Keep this separation. - Pure logic (
calc.py,query.py,answers.py,evaluate.py) has no I/O and is unit-tested against hand-verified values; server tools are thin wrappers over it. - Game-mechanics reference docs are in
docs/. Evidence citations (file/function/line) must be re-pinned against the decompiled source at write time — never carried forward from notes — and reviewers verify citations against the source. Carried-forward evidence has misattributed functions before. - Brendan sometimes reports gameplay dynamics from his own play sessions (not derivable from the
decompiled source). Route these distinctly from verified mechanics: label as player-reported/
empirical, never as "verified"; if it implies a real modeling gap, add an explicit "not modeled"
caveat to the
read_meprimer; park any richer modeling idea indocs/roadmap.mdrather than building or verifying it on the spot.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

spud-coach CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository brendanlefebvre/spud-coach (0 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 866 tokens to every session, about $0.0043 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
