MCP-OpenStack-Ops: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

MCP-OpenStack-Ops AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from call518/MCP-OpenStack-Ops. It costs 574 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository instruction file for an OpenStack MCP project. It tells a coding agent how to keep the command-line-to-tool mapping and its validation records accurate.

In plain words
What is it for?
Maintaining README mapping tables, recording verification results, and updating tool names, actions, permissions, prerequisites, and limitations after code changes.
Why use it?
It prevents documentation from claiming support for actions that are missing, untested, blocked, or limited. It also keeps live checks separate from local tests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00574 $0.00574
Opus 5.5 $0.00230 $0.00230
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00115 $0.00115
Haiku 4.5 $0.00057 $0.00057

Security

Grade A, and why

MCP-OpenStack-Ops AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository instructions

These instructions supplement the user's global guidelines. They do not authorize Git writes, external publication, or changes to existing cloud resources.

Maintain the CLI-to-tool mapping and validation snapshot

For every improvement or fix, review README.md's OpenStack CLI vs MCP Tools Mapping section. Keep its summary, tool rows, Status, Notes, and linked evidence consistent with the resulting implementation and actual verification.

  • Update affected rows whenever tools, actions, parameters, prerequisites, permissions, limitations, or behavior change. Use registered tool names and supported actions; do not advertise missing tools or unimplemented actions.
  • Distinguish implementation from verification. Mark implemented paths without successful live validation as Live unverified, with the specific reason. Missing services/APIs, policy denials, failures, and timeouts are not passes. Keep intentional capability limitations and unimplemented actions explicit.
  • Keep Live tool checks and Local unit tests in separate summary groups. Live classifications count unique tools; unit tests count test cases. Multiple tests for one tool do not increase the unique-tool count. Keep classification totals consistent with the stated inventory and scope.
  • Show unit-test results concisely as 160/160 (100%), using the actual results, not this example's values. Account for failures and skipped tests separately when present; do not count skipped tests as passes. Do not treat unit-test success as proof of live service functionality.
  • Run relevant verification after functional changes. Update dates, source revision or working-tree identity, counts, percentages, and evidence links only from checks actually performed. Do not present an older snapshot as validation of newer code. Mark affected paths as unverified or the snapshot as outdated when validation cannot be repeated.
  • Replace a complete live summary only after repeating its stated coverage. Label targeted retests as partial; do not extrapolate them to the full toolset. Document polling limits and distinguish accepted requests from confirmed final resource states. Explain changes in test conditions that affect comparisons.
  • Keep docs/ for reusable user guidance only. Do not create or retain issue-specific reports, dated test results, or evidence JSON in docs/, or embed those records in usage guides. Report case-specific verification results, limits, failures, and cleanup in chat unless the user explicitly requests a separate artifact. Never expose credentials, private endpoints, or sensitive resource data. Do not add report links to README.md.
  • Before completion, check summary arithmetic, percentages, tool/action names, Status/Notes, source identity, and evidence links for agreement. If README.ko.md exists, maintain equivalent information in both README files.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
