JobPrepWorks-OpenEdition: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

JobPrepWorks-OpenEdition CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from calvincs/JobPrepWorks-OpenEdition. It costs 3,425 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Instructions for JobPrep Works Open Edition, a local interview-preparation tool for one person. It uses uploaded career documents and target jobs to provide fit analysis and adaptive practice interviews through a chosen language-model provider.

In plain words
What is it for?
Running the application locally, developing its interface and logic with a mock model provider, and testing it with Python, SQLite, and pytest.
Why use it?
They keep the product local and unrestricted, so development does not accidentally add accounts, billing, authentication, or feature tiers that the tool is not meant to have.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03425 $0.03425
Opus 5 $0.01713 $0.01713
Sonnet 5 $0.00685 $0.00685
Haiku 4.5 $0.00343 $0.00343

Security

Grade A, and why

JobPrepWorks-OpenEdition CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this is

JobPrep Works — Open Edition is a single-user, local, MIT-licensed interview prep tool: upload career documents, add target jobs, get an honest fit analysis, drill with adaptive mock interviews. It runs on the user's own machine against whichever LLM provider they configure.

There are no accounts, no authentication, no billing, and no plans. Every feature is always available; the user pays their provider directly. If you find yourself adding a gate, a tier, or a sign-in, stop — that's a different product.

README.md is the pitch and setup guide; llm.txt is the same for an agent.

Commands

No build step, no linter configured. Python + one hand-written stylesheet. There is a pytest suite with coverage.

scripts/setup                    # venv + requirements + .env (idempotent)
scripts/run                      # http://127.0.0.1:8000
scripts/run --reload             # auto-restart while editing

# fast, deterministic, no API calls — the right mode for UI and logic work
LLM_PROVIDER=mock scripts/run --reload

# tests: throwaway SQLite file + mock provider, no network, no key
.venv/bin/pip install -r requirements-dev.txt
.venv/bin/python -m pytest                     # -q --cov=app, HTML in htmlcov/

# quick checks
python3 -m compileall -q app/
node --check app/static/app.js

Verifying changes safely. The app writes to a real database and real uploaded files. To exercise anything that writes, point it at a throwaway data directory with the mock provider — never at the user's data/:

JOBPREP_DATA_DIR=/tmp/jp-scratch LLM_PROVIDER=mock .venv/bin/python -c "
from starlette.testclient import TestClient
from app.main import app
with TestClient(app) as c: ...
"

init_db() runs from the FastAPI lifespan, which TestClient triggers; to drive services directly, call it yourself first.

Architecture

Stack: FastAPI + Jinja2 + HTMX (vendored at app/static/htmx.min.js) + SQLite. HTMX is the only client framework; there is no bundler. All CSS is one file (app/static/style.css); the only JS is app.js, theme.js, theme-boot.js, dictation.js, resume-print.js — hand-written, loaded defer.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
