Written for Claude Code: the file is CLAUDE.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code.

This is calvinw/fl-studio-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on fl-studio-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything fl-studio-mcp configures →

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /Users/calvinw/develop/fl-studio-mcp/.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.04648 $0.04648
Opus 5 $0.02324 $0.02324
Sonnet 5 $0.00930 $0.00930
Haiku 4.5 $0.00465 $0.00465

Measured 9d ago against content hash 357d5748a891, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

fl-studio-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

FL Studio Direct Integration - Documentation

Platform Support

⚠️ macOS Primary, Windows Secondary - This project primarily supports macOS with full auto-trigger functionality. Windows support is partially implemented but may require additional configuration.

Overview

This system allows Claude to interact with FL Studio's piano roll through direct file-based communication. It provides seamless integration between Claude's AI capabilities and FL Studio's music production environment with built-in timing delays to ensure reliable operation.

Installation and Setup

1. Install MCP Server for Claude

./install_mcp_for_claude.sh

This registers the MCP server with Claude Code. The server is named fl-studio-mcp.

2. Usage Workflow

For each session:

  1. Open FL Studio and open a piano roll
  2. Run ComposeWithLLM once (Tools → Scripting → ComposeWithLLM) to initialize
  3. Start Claude - the trigger mechanism is built into the MCP server
  4. No need to run separate scripts - everything is handled automatically!

Note: Claude Code needs Accessibility permissions (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility) to send keystrokes to FL Studio.

Getting Started (For AI Assistants)

If you're an LLM helping the user with this system, here's what you need to know:

1. Check Available Tools

First, verify you have access to these MCP tools (they'll have the mcp__fl_studio_mcp__ prefix):

  • mcp__fl_studio_mcp__get_piano_roll_state - Read the piano roll
  • mcp__fl_studio_mcp__send_notes - Add or replace notes (including chords)
  • mcp__fl_studio_mcp__delete_notes - Remove specific notes
  • mcp__fl_studio_mcp__clear_piano_roll - Clear all notes
  • mcp__fl_studio_mcp__clear_queue - Clear pending requests

If these aren't available, the MCP server needs to be started or reconnected. The server is registered as fl-studio-mcp in Claude Code.

2. Auto-Trigger System

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
