Project instructions for searchts, a Python command-line tool and library that lets an AI agent search websites, read pages, transcribe videos, and download web assets.

In plain words
What is it for?
Working on or using searchts features such as web search, page reading, video transcription, asset downloads, and its MCP server.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01284 $0.01284
Opus 5 $0.00642 $0.00642
Sonnet 5 $0.00257 $0.00257
Haiku 4.5 $0.00128 $0.00128

Measured today against content hash 3901326a023c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

searchts CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project

searchts — Python CLI + library + MCP server + Claude Code skill that gives an AI agent first-party web superpowers via three commands:

  • searchts read <url> — escalating open-source unlocker (curl_cffi browser-fingerprint fetch -> Jina Reader -> patchright stealth browser) that returns clean markdown and gets through most bot-walls, keyless, on your own IP.
  • searchts search "<query>" — keyless multi-provider web search with reciprocal-rank fusion (DuckDuckGo default; optional SearXNG/Exa/Brave/Tavily).
  • searchts transcribe <url> — subtitles-first video transcription (existing captions via yt-dlp need no key; falls back to hosted or keyless-local Whisper) for YouTube/TikTok/Instagram/Reddit.
  • searchts grab <url> / searchts get <url> — on-demand asset + design-inspiration grabber: download a page's images/icons/css/fonts (or one asset file) through the same escalating unlock ladder, and extract a color palette + the fonts in use. Surfaces: CLI, MCP server (tools: read_url, web_search, fetch_asset, grab_site), and a /searchts Claude Code skill. Keyless and free by default. OPTIONAL: separately-installed platform CLIs (gh, twitter-cli, opencli, mcporter) let it also reach GitHub/Twitter/Reddit/LinkedIn, and searchts doctor reports them — but those are optional add-ons, not the core. Repo: github.com/capad-xyz/searchts | License: MIT Version: see pyproject.toml (kept in sync with searchts/init.py and server.json).

Commands

  • pip install -c constraints.txt -e ".[dev]" — Dev install against the tested dependency set CI uses
  • pytest tests/ -v — All tests
  • pytest tests/test_cli.py -v — CLI tests only
  • ruff check searchts tests — Lint (CI gates on this)
  • mypy searchts — Type check (CI gates on this)
  • bash test.sh — Full integration test (creates venv, installs, runs doctor + channel tests)
  • python -m searchts doctor — Run diagnostics (same CLI as the searchts script; use -m when PATH is a different install)
  • python -m searchts install --env=auto — Auto-configure
  • python -m searchts.cli … — still works

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
