AGENTS.md

skills-manager AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from cchao123/skills-manager. It costs 1,272 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for Skills Manager, a desktop app for managing Codex skills and plugins. They describe its Rust-and-React structure, development commands, local server, and production builds.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing the interface or backend, starting the development app, changing skill settings, or building macOS and Windows releases.
Why use it?
They give an agent the project’s architecture and the commands needed to run or package the app without searching through the repository first.

This is cchao123/skills-manager's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on skills-manager itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything skills-manager configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01272 $0.01272
Opus 5 $0.00636 $0.00636
Sonnet 5 $0.00254 $0.00254
Haiku 4.5 $0.00127 $0.00127

Security

Grade A, and why

skills-manager AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

Skills Manager is a desktop application for managing Codex skills and plugins. It's built with Tauri 2 (Rust backend) and React + TypeScript (Vite frontend), targeting macOS and Windows.

The application scans Codex's plugin directories, displays skills in a UI, and enables/disables them by modifying ~/.Codex/settings.json. It also supports cloning GitHub repositories containing custom skills.

Development Commands

Start Development Server

npm run tauri:dev

This starts:

  • Vite dev server on http://localhost:5173 (frontend with hot reload)
  • Tauri app window
  • Rust cargo watch for backend changes

Note: Requires Rust toolchain and OpenSSL. On macOS with Homebrew:

export OPENSSL_DIR=$(brew --prefix openssl@3)
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=$(brew --prefix openssl@3)/lib/pkgconfig

Build Production Bundle

# macOS
npm run tauri:build --target universal-apple-darwin

# Windows
npm run tauri:build --target x86_64-pc-windows-msvc

Output: src-tauri/target/release/bundle/

Build Rust Only (faster for backend changes)

cargo build --manifest-path=src-tauri/Cargo.toml

Architecture

Tauri IPC Pattern

The app uses Tauri's command system for Rust↔JavaScript communication:

Rust (src-tauri/src/commands/): Define functions with #[tauri::command] Frontend (app/src/api/tauri.ts): Call via invoke('command_name', { args })

All commands are registered in src-tauri/src/main.rs using tauri::generate_handler!.

Core Modules

Module File Responsibility
SkillScanner scanner.rs Scans ~/.Codex/plugins/cache/ and ~/.Codex/skills-manager/ for skills, parses SKILL.md frontmatter
SettingsManager settings.rs Reads/writes ~/.Codex/settings.json, manages enabledPlugins field
GitHubIntegrator github.rs Git operations (clone/pull) using git2 crate
Commands commands/*.rs Tauri command handlers (skills.rs, github.rs)

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
