kalshi-mcp-server: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

kalshi-mcp-server AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from cejor6/kalshi-mcp-server. It costs 10,705 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project guide for a Python server that connects AI coding agents to Kalshi, a prediction-market service where people trade contracts on possible future events. It explains the code layout, login process, request limits, and trading safeguards.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to learn where the main components live, how requests are authenticated and rate-limited, and how market queries, portfolio checks, and trade orders are exposed to an AI agent.
Why use it?
It gives agents and new contributors one place to understand how the project works and how to handle trading operations safely. This reduces confusion when changing or reusing the repository.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.10705 $0.10705
Opus 5 $0.05352 $0.05352
Sonnet 5 $0.02141 $0.02141
Haiku 4.5 $0.01070 $0.01070

Security

Grade A, and why

kalshi-mcp-server AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Agent guide

This file is for any agent working on this repo — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Aider, etc. Conventions live here; tool-specific files (like CLAUDE.md) simply point back to this document.

If you're a human reading this for the first time, it's also a perfectly good architectural overview — start with the "Repo layout" and "How authentication works" sections.

What this project is

A Model Context Protocol server for Kalshi, implemented in Python on top of FastMCP. It speaks the Kalshi REST API (and eventually the WebSocket API) and exposes tools + resources that an LLM agent can use to query markets, inspect a portfolio, and place trades.

The repo is designed to be forked. Conventions, safety controls, and documentation should be useful to anyone who clones the project. Write for a stranger, not for the current owner.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
