claude-ext CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from claudebot101001/claude-ext. It costs 477 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Instruction notes for claude-ext, a framework that extends the Claude Code command-line tool with reusable components called extensions. They describe its structure, design rules, built-in templates, and how to add an extension.

In plain words
What is it for?
Understanding the project layout, following its extension rules, using its templates, and building or maintaining new extensions.
Why use it?
They give contributors a shared reference for changing the framework without breaking its separation between core code and extensions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00477 $0.00477
Opus 5 $0.00238 $0.00238
Sonnet 5 $0.00095 $0.00095
Haiku 4.5 $0.00048 $0.00048

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-ext CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

claude-ext

Extensible framework for Claude Code CLI. Wraps CLI invocations + manages extension lifecycles.

Design Principles

  1. Core never imports any extension. Discovery via importlib only.
  2. Extensions never import each other. Use dependencies + engine.services for runtime access.
  3. Each extension is self-contained. Delete directory + remove from enabled = zero impact.
  4. New features = new directories. Modifying core/ or other extensions = abstraction leak.
  5. MCP access is fail-closed. Templates use allowlists. New extensions auto-excluded from restricted templates.

Adding a New Extension

  1. Create extensions/<name>/extension.py with ExtensionImpl(Extension)
  2. Implement start() and stop()
  3. Add to enabled list in config.yaml
  4. (Optional) Add MCP server: create mcp_server.py subclassing MCPServerBase, register in start()
  5. (Optional) Add templates: create templates/*.yaml + .md files, register in start()

No core changes, no other extension changes required.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
