Confluent MCP Server is an open-source Model Context Protocol server that lets AI assistants interact with Confluent Cloud, Confluent Platform, and standalone Apache Kafka through natural language. Its tools cover Kafka, Flink SQL, Schema Registry, connectors, and Tableflow. The catalogue add-ons help agents operate and configure the server.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5 | $0.03414 | $0.03414 |
| Opus 5 | $0.01707 | $0.01707 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00683 | $0.00683 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00341 | $0.00341 |
Grade A, and why
mcp-confluent CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 124 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Project Overview
MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that exposes Confluent Cloud resources (Kafka, Flink, Schema Registry, Connectors, Tableflow, Billing) as tools for AI assistants. Built with TypeScript, Node.js ≥22.19.0, and the @modelcontextprotocol/sdk.
Build & Development Commands
pnpm run build # tsc && tsc-alias (compile + resolve path aliases)
pnpm run dev # watch mode: tsc + tsc-alias in parallel
pnpm run lint # eslint
pnpm run lint:fix # eslint --fix
pnpm run format # prettier --write
pnpm run test # unit + integration (live CCloud, builds first)
pnpm run test:unit # unit tests only (fast, no build)
pnpm run test:unit:watch # unit tests in watch mode
pnpm run test:unit:coverage # unit tests with coverage
pnpm run test:integration # integration tests only (live CCloud, builds first)
pnpm run test:integration:coverage # integration tests with coverage
pnpm run test:coverage # unit + integration with coverage
pnpm run typecheck # tsc --noEmit (type-check only, includes test suite)
pnpm run start # node dist/index.js --env-file .env (stdio transport)
pnpm run start:http # HTTP transport
pnpm run start:all # all transports (http, sse, stdio)
pnpm run inspector # launch MCP inspector for manual testing
pnpm run print:schema # print tool schemas as markdown
Pre-commit hook runs pnpm exec prettier and pnpm exec eslint automatically via Husky on staged files only. Pre-push hook runs pnpm run lint and pnpm run typecheck in parallel.
Architecture
Entry Point & Startup Flow
src/index.ts is a thin preflight shim: it gates on the Node.js runtime version (via src/preflight.ts) and, only once that passes, dynamically imports src/server-main.ts — so an unsupported old Node fails with a clear version message instead of a cryptic parse error on our modern imports (issue #455). src/server-main.ts is the real entry: parseCliArgs() → initEnv() → branch on cliOptions.config: when -c <path> is supplied, loadConfigFromYaml(path, process.env) parses + interpolates + validates the YAML; otherwise buildConfigFromEnvAndCli(env, ...) synthesizes the same MCPServerConfiguration shape from env vars + CLI args. Both branches converge into ServerRuntime.fromConfig(), which constructs a DirectClientManager per connection → iterates ToolName enum to build enabled tool set → registers tools on McpServer → starts transports.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mcp-confluent CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository confluentinc/mcp-confluent (167 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 3,414 tokens to every session, about $0.0171 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
