AGENTS.md

red-team-agent-orchestration AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode from Contoso-State/red-team-agent-orchestration. It costs 2,697 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for an Azure cloud security platform where AI agents coordinate penetration tests across infrastructure and services.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when navigating, modifying, or reviewing the red-team orchestration graph and its specialist agents.
Why use it?
They give coding agents the repository’s purpose, architecture, key files, and operating rules so changes and reviews fit the project.

Written for Claude Code and Codex and OpenCode: PreToolUse hook event, but also reads ~/.codex or $CODEX_HOME. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions subagents; mentions Claude Code.

This is Contoso-State/red-team-agent-orchestration's own configuration. It tells Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode how to work on red-team-agent-orchestration itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02697 $0.02697
Opus 5 $0.01349 $0.01349
Sonnet 5 $0.00539 $0.00539
Haiku 4.5 $0.00270 $0.00270

Measured 5d ago against content hash 53c08ab53bd8, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

red-team-agent-orchestration AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md — Azure Red Team Agent Orchestration

Repository Purpose

This repository contains an agentic red team platform for Azure cloud infrastructure security assessment. AI agents coordinate to perform comprehensive penetration testing against Azure environments, identifying vulnerabilities across identity, RBAC, networking, compute/Kubernetes, data/SQL, web & static sites, AI/Foundry, external attack surface (EASM), governance & posture, DevOps & supply chain, email (M365), and monitoring domains.

Architecture

The system's primary orchestration standard is an explicit declarative graph, wired into the native Copilot CLI layers:

  • Canonical graph (graph/redteam.graph.json) — the single source of truth for scope validation, methodology memory, preflight inventory, parallel specialist fan-out, deterministic reduce, bounded evaluator-optimizer reflection, false-positive judging, human-in-the-loop active-lane interrupts, correlation, reporting, and Reflexion debrief.
  • Custom agents (.github/agents/*.agent.md) — the dispatchable team. The user-invocable redteam-orchestrator (Pentest Manager) hands tasks to domain sub-agents through the agent (Task) tool. Sub-agents set disable-model-invocation: true so they only run when the Orchestrator dispatches them.
  • Skills (.github/skills/azure-redteam-*) — auto-loaded domain knowledge each agent draws on.
  • Extension/hooks (.github/extensions/redteam-guardrails) — a session-wide preToolUse hook that enforces read-only as an allowlist (deny-by-default) across az/azd and Azure PowerShell, for every agent.

Graph engineering & self-improvement

The graph is executed by the dependency-free Node runner (tools/graph/run-graph.mjs) inside the Copilot, Claude, Codex, and Cursor runtimes, and also by the first-class LangGraph deployment target in integrations/langgraph/, which compiles the same JSON spec into a StateGraph and reuses the same read-only guard through a subprocess bridge.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
