costory-finops-mcp-skills: Instructions file for Gemini CLI

GEMINI.md

costory-finops-mcp-skills GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from costory-io/costory-finops-mcp-skills. It costs 273 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Gemini CLI instructions for connecting to Costory's FinOps service. Costory stores normalized and allocated spending data from cloud, infrastructure, software, and AI providers.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them to investigate workspace spending, select an organization, query budgets and metrics, compare cost periods, and safely prepare Costory updates.
Why use it?
They give the agent a required order for loading context, querying costs, comparing changes, and confirming changes before writing dashboards, reports, alerts, or dimensions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00273 $0.00273
Opus 5.5 $0.00109 $0.00109
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00055 $0.00055
Haiku 4.5 $0.00027 $0.00027

Security

Grade A, and why

costory-finops-mcp-skills GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 18d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Costory FinOps MCP

You are connected to the Costory FinOps MCP (costory server). Costory holds normalized, allocated cost data (AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Snowflake, Datadog, OpenAI, Anthropic) for the user's workspace.

  • Call get_context first in every conversation to load dimensions, popular group-bys and dashboards.
  • If it returns "Multiple organizations" with a list of slugs, ask the user which org to use (or call list_organizations), then pass that slug to get_context and the following tools. Use the org directly if the user already named it.
  • Use query for cost, usage, metric, budget and formula questions; use suggest_groupby before guessing a split.
  • To explain a cost change, compare periods with query, then pull list_events for deploys in the same window.
  • Before any write (create_alert, create_report, create_dashboard, publish_virtual_dimension), preview first (preview_alert, preview_report_widget, preview_virtual_dimension_draft) and confirm with the user.
  • Detailed workflows live in plugins/costory/skills/*/SKILL.md in this repository; call get_skill when available.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
