cc-gifs: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

cc-gifs CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from crashchen/cc-gifs. It costs 1,602 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a project that generates pixel-art GIF spinners featuring Clawd, the Claude Code mascot. They describe the project files, animation generator, output folder, and spinner-word catalogue.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when editing the Clawd GIF generator, adding spinner scenes or words, checking generated outputs, or understanding the project’s Python and Pillow setup.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the project’s structure and working rules before it changes or generates files.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01602 $0.01602
Opus 5 $0.00801 $0.00801
Sonnet 5 $0.00320 $0.00320
Haiku 4.5 $0.00160 $0.00160

Security

Grade A, and why

cc-gifs CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CLAUDE.md

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

Overview

A creative playground for generating Clawd (Claude Code mascot) pixel art spinner GIFs. The project produces animated GIF spinners that display during Claude Code loading states — each with a whimsical "-ing" word and a unique Clawd scene.

Project Structure

  • generate_clawd_gifs.py — Unified generator script: draws Clawd pixel art, defines both full frames_*() animations and compact sc_*() scenes, and outputs transparent GIFs
  • generated/ — Runtime output directory for generated GIFs (kept out of git)
  • spinner-words.md — Catalog of 195 spinner entries (165 drawn ✅, 30 pending ⏳, 8 repo extensions ★) with status tracking, Chinese translations, scene descriptions, and an "官方语义" column noting upstream verb intent. Cross-checked against Claude Code 2.1.153's 187 default spinnerVerbs.
  • README.md — Public repo overview and usage guide
  • AGENTS.md — Pointer file for Codex and other coding agents, redirects to CLAUDE.md
  • requirements.txt — Minimal runtime dependency list (Pillow)
  • LICENSE — MIT license for repository code
  • .gitignore — Excludes generated/, *.gif, *.png, *.jpg, *.jpeg, .DS_Store, __pycache__/
  • Local-only reference screenshots, reference GIFs, and sticker/source assets are intentionally excluded from this public repository

GIF Generation

python3 generate_clawd_gifs.py
  • Requires: Pillow (pip install Pillow)
  • Output: official spinner GIFs at generated/Clawd-{Word}.gif (400×400px, transparent background, 170ms per frame)
  • Default compact scenes render at 6 frames, but some handcrafted frames_*() scenes now use longer timelines
  • Known longer animations:
    • Catapulting8 frames
    • Cultivating12 frames
    • Germinating12 frames
    • Gesticulating8 frames
    • Cascading10 frames
    • Channelling8 frames
    • Choreographing8 frames
    • Hatching10 frames
    • Nucleating8 frames
    • Osmosing8 frames
    • Prestidigitating8 frames
    • Recombobulating8 frames
    • Wrangling8 frames
    • Whirlpooling10 frames
    • Unfurling8 frames
    • Topsy-turvying10 frames
    • Transmuting8 frames
    • Tinkering8 frames
    • Thundering8 frames
  • The generator currently produces 165 GIFs (157 official spinner verbs + 8 repo extensions); 30 additional official verbs are catalogued as pending in spinner-words.md
  • generate_clawd_gifs.py supports two internal scene styles:
    • handcrafted frames_*() functions that return complete frame lists
    • compact sc_*() scene functions rendered through make_frames()
  • main() merges both generator styles into one output registry
  • Current pipeline:
    • pixel font + shared color constants
    • grid-based draw_clawd() and scene helpers
    • frames_*() or sc_*() scene construction
    • make_frames() for compact scene wrapping
    • main() registry merge and batch generation
    • save_gif() palette conversion and animated GIF export
  • Clawd-Dancing.gif and other visual references remain local-only assets and are excluded from this public repository

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
