AGENTS.md

pickipedia-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from cryptograss/pickipedia-mcp. It costs 2,429 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of MediaWiki-MCP-Server AGENTS.md, MIT.

A repository guide in `AGENTS.md` for the Pickipedia MediaWiki MCP project. It explains the code layout, imports, commands, tool conventions, wiki access, authentication, transport, and response handling.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing or reviewing this MediaWiki MCP server, especially its tools, wiki connections, authentication, HTTP transport, configuration, and error handling.
Why use it?
It gives a coding agent the project context needed to make changes in the right files and follow the repository's existing conventions.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions Claude Code; mentions AGENTS.md; mentions Codex.

This is cryptograss/pickipedia-mcp's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on pickipedia-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything pickipedia-mcp configures →

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is import type { ExtensionPack } from '../types.ts';.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02429 $0.02429
Opus 5.5 $0.00972 $0.00972
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00486 $0.00486
Haiku 4.5 $0.00243 $0.00243

Security

Grade A, and why

pickipedia-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repo layout

  • src/tools/ — one file per non-extension MCP tool (descriptor + handler + registration).
  • src/tools/extensions/<id>/ — extension packs: tools gated on a specific MediaWiki extension (SMW / Bucket / Cargo / …), grouped under a per-pack module.
  • src/runtime/ — context, dispatcher, register, reconcile, logger, monotonic clock, constants, request-scoped context, auth-shape classifier.
  • src/wikis/ — wiki registry, selection, mwn provider, discovery, error sanitiser.
  • src/transport/ — stdio and streamable HTTP entry points, SSRF/upload guards, low-level HTTP helpers.
  • src/auth/ — OAuth for MediaWiki, in two roles (client to a wiki, and the hosted authorization-server proxy). See src/auth/README.md.
  • src/config/ — config.json loader and substitution.
  • src/services/ — section, edit, revision, response services consumed via ToolContext.
  • src/results/ — response shaping (truncation, format, schemas).
  • src/errors/ — error classifier + per-tool special cases.
  • src/resources/ — MCP resources exposing mcp://wikis/{wikiKey}.
  • src/server.ts, src/index.ts — server factory and bootstrap.
  • tests/ — vitest suites mirroring the source tree; shared helpers in tests/helpers/.

Imports

Relative imports name the .ts file they actually resolve to — import { foo } from './foo.ts', not './foo.js'. TypeScript rewrites the extension to .js on emit (rewriteRelativeImportExtensions), so dist/ is unchanged. Package specifiers are untouched.

import/extensions enforces this, so a stale .js specifier fails the pre-commit hook. Its help text says to remove the extension; ignore that and change it to .ts, since NodeNext will not resolve an extensionless relative path.

The module paths passed to vi.mock, vi.doMock, vi.unmock, vi.importActual and vi.importMock take the same .ts extension, but the lint rule does not reach them and the compiler does not rewrite them — they are function arguments, not imports. Keep each one in step with the static import it doubles by hand.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
