Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Grade A, and why
nws-weather-mcp-server CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Domain
Full design in docs/design.md. Key constraints:
- API base:
https://api.weather.gov— no auth, but requires aUser-Agentheader (403 without it). - Coordinate-centric: Most workflows start with
GET /points/{lat},{lon}, which returns a grid cell with URLs for forecast, hourly forecast, observation stations, and zones. This is the routing layer — follow the returned URLs rather than constructing grid endpoints manually. - Grid caching:
/pointsresponses are highly cacheable (grid cells don't change). Cached in-process via aMapwith 1h TTL — grid cells are geography, not tenant data. - Units are metric: Temperature in Celsius, wind in km/h, pressure in Pa, precipitation in mm. Convert to readable format in
format()(show both F/C, mph, inHg/hPa, in/mm). - No geocoding: API is coordinates-only. Tools accept lat/lon directly.
- Alert quirks:
/alerts/activehas nolimitparam (returns 400) and no upstream cursor. Filter by area/severity, then window the fetched array locally./alerts/active/countrejects every query parameter with a 400, sonws_get_alert_countstakes no filters. - Transient 500s: Grid forecast endpoints occasionally fail. Retry with backoff.
- Hourly = 156 periods: Handler windows returned periods to 48 so
structuredContentandcontent[]share the same bounded set; pre-page total + truncation notice surfaced via enrichment. - Paging is local windowing, with one upstream exception.
nws_get_forecast,nws_find_stations, andnws_search_alertseach fetch their whole collection, then window it locally. Each takes an opaquecursorinput and surfacesnextCursoras enrichment, omitted on the last page per the MCP spec, so the Zod field is.optional()and never.nullable().nws_find_stationswindows withpaginateArrayfrom@cyanheads/mcp-ts-core/utils(the generic pagination utility — not the tenant-scoped, signedencodeCursor/decodeCursorpair in the storage layer).paginateArrayre-mints{ offset, limit }only, so the two tools whose query a call can change mint their own token with the genericencodeCursor/decodeCursorpair it builds on:nws_search_alertscarries the normalized filters (area,point,zone,region_type,region,event,severity,urgency,certainty,status), andnws_get_forecastcarries its mode (daily or hourly), each besideoffsetandlimit. Both decode the token before any NWS request. On a continued page the carried query governs and the matching inputs are ignored, aslimitis; a token without it ({ offset, limit }, the earlier shape) still decodes and takes its query from the inputs. A token that does not decode, carries a non-integeroffsetorlimit, or carries filters that fail the input checks (alerts) or a non-boolean mode (forecast) fails as-32602 InvalidParams(invalid_cursor);nws_find_stationsdecodes and applies the shared integer-window validation inpage-limit.tsbefore its station lookup; all three tools treat a blank cursor as unset. Leave it; do not convert it to a declarederrors[]reason. Nothing caches the fetched collection (only/pointsgrid resolution, 1h), so pages are contiguous within one response and not across separate calls: never document or promise a cross-call no-gap/no-overlap guarantee, least of all for alerts. The exception isnws_get_observation_history, which pages upstream, because a station's observation history has no bounded collection to fetch (NWS keeps ~7 days, and a busy station reports every 5 minutes). It mints its own keyset cursor withencodeCursor/decodeCursorfrom@cyanheads/mcp-ts-core/utils— the generic pairpaginateArraybuilds on, not the storage layer's — carrying the first page'sstartand appliedlimitwith the oldest returned timestamp as the nextend; NWS's ownpagination.nextnever reaches input or output. Each request asks NWS for one record past the page, sonextCursorappears only when that extra record comes back (a window holding exactlylimitobservations ends with no cursor), nototalCountis reported (NWS gives none for a window), and a cursor this tool did not mint fails as-32602 InvalidParams(invalid_cursor) before any request. Onnws_find_stations,nws_search_alerts, andnws_get_observation_history, a first-pagelimitpast the page cap is served as the cap rather than rejected and disclosed throughrequestedLimit/effectiveLimitenrichment (clampPageLimitinsrc/mcp-server/tools/page-limit.ts); the schema ceiling is.max(10000).
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
