cycloid-mcp-server CLAUDE.md

cycloid-mcp-server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for coding agents from cycloidio/cycloid-mcp-server. It costs 1,131 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project guide for Cycloid MCP Server, a service that connects AI assistants to Cycloid's infrastructure automation platform.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when setting up, testing, checking, formatting, building, or running the Cycloid MCP Server.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents the project context, commands, architecture, and request flow needed to work on the repository consistently.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01131 $0.01131
Opus 5 $0.00566 $0.00566
Sonnet 5 $0.00226 $0.00226
Haiku 4.5 $0.00113 $0.00113

Measured 4d ago against content hash 8939b05fa551, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

cycloid-mcp-server CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

Cycloid MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that bridges AI assistants with the Cycloid infrastructure automation platform. It wraps the Cycloid CLI (cy binary) to expose blueprints, stacks, service catalogs, pipelines, and events as MCP tools and resources over HTTP.

Common Commands

make setup # First-time dev environment setup (installs uv + deps)
make dev-server # Run development server
make test # Run all tests with pytest
make type-check # Pyright strict mode type checking
make lint # flake8 linting
make format # Format with black + isort
make quality-check # All checks: test + type-check + lint
make simulate-ci # Full local CI simulation (validates Python 3.13, runs all checks)
make build # Build Docker image
make prod-server # Run production Docker container

Run a single test file:

uv run pytest tests/test_stack_component.py -v

Architecture

Request Flow

HTTP Request → FastMCP 3.0 (Starlette/Uvicorn) → @tool/@resource function
→ CLIMixin (via Depends) → Cycloid CLI binary → Cycloid API

The server is HTTP-only and multi-tenant: org and API key come from request headers (X-CY-ORG, X-CY-API-KEY), not environment variables.

Component System (FastMCP 3.0)

Components are plain async functions in src/components/, auto-discovered by FileSystemProvider. No registry, no base classes — just @tool() and @resource() decorators with Depends(get_cli) for CLI injection.

Each component file contains:

  • Private helper functions (prefixed _)
  • @tool decorated async functions — MCP tools
  • @resource decorated async functions — MCP resources

Current component files: catalogs.py, events.py, pipelines.py, stacks.py (includes elicitation), stackforms.py.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cycloid-mcp-server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository cycloidio/cycloid-mcp-server (0 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 1,131 tokens to every session, about $0.0057 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
