Obsidian-RAG CLAUDE.md

Obsidian-RAG CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from daje0601/Obsidian-RAG. It costs 396 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of instructions for maintaining a knowledge base in Obsidian, a note-taking app that stores linked Markdown files. It defines folders for source material, compiled articles, query results, and indexes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when compiling raw research into wiki articles, answering questions from the vault, or auditing the knowledge base.
Why use it?
It keeps notes organized and makes sure new material is classified, cross-linked, and added to the relevant indexes instead of becoming isolated files.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00396 $0.00396
Opus 5 $0.00198 $0.00198
Sonnet 5 $0.00079 $0.00079
Haiku 4.5 $0.00040 $0.00040

Measured 6d ago against content hash 7b49a523369c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

Obsidian-RAG CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Knowledge Base — Vault Conventions

Vault Structure

  • raw/ — Source material, clipped articles, research (input zone)
  • wiki/ — LLM-compiled knowledge base (you maintain this)
  • output/ — Query results and generated reports

Wiki System

You are the librarian of the wiki/ folder. You write and maintain everything in it.

Structure

  • wiki/_master-index.md is the entry point — lists every topic with a one-line description.
  • Each topic gets its own subfolder with its own _index.md listing all articles.

Compiling

When I say "compile" or dump new material in raw/:

  1. Read each raw file
  2. Decide which topic it belongs to (or create a new topic folder)
  3. Write a wiki article with key takeaways and [[wiki links]] to related concepts
  4. Update that topic's _index.md
  5. Update wiki/_master-index.md
  6. If a raw file spans multiple topics, create articles in both and cross-link

Querying

When answering questions against the knowledge base:

  1. Read wiki/_master-index.md first to find the right topic
  2. Read that topic's _index.md to find relevant articles
  3. Read the specific articles
  4. Synthesize the answer

Auditing

When I say "audit" or "lint", review the wiki for:

  • Inconsistent or contradictory information
  • Missing cross-links between related concepts
  • Gaps in coverage
  • Suggest improvements, but don't make changes without confirmation

Conventions

  • Always use [[wiki links]] when referencing other notes
  • File names: lowercase with hyphens (e.g., ai-agent-overview.md)
  • Keep articles concise — bullet points over paragraphs
  • Always include a ## Key Takeaways section in wiki articles
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
