eslint-plugin-jest-formatting: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

eslint-plugin-jest-formatting AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from dangreenisrael/eslint-plugin-jest-formatting. It costs 1,938 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for working on eslint-plugin-jest-formatting, an ESLint plugin that checks spacing around Jest test blocks. Jest is a JavaScript testing tool, and ESLint checks code for rule violations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing, configuring, or interpreting this plugin, including its rules for blank lines around describe, test, setup, and expect statements and its ESLint autofix behavior.
Why use it?
They explain the plugin's exact limits so an agent does not mistake formatting checks for tests of behavior or test quality. They also describe its configuration and automatic fixing rules.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01938 $0.01938
Opus 5.5 $0.00775 $0.00775
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00388 $0.00388
Haiku 4.5 $0.00194 $0.00194

Security

Grade A, and why

eslint-plugin-jest-formatting AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md

Briefing for AI coding agents working with or on eslint-plugin-jest-formatting. Everything here is also in README.md and docs/rules; this is the short version.

What this plugin does

eslint-plugin-jest-formatting provides ESLint rules that require a blank line before and after Jest blocks: describe, test/it, beforeAll, beforeEach, afterAll, afterEach, and groups of expect statements. That is its whole scope. It does not check test correctness, naming, or structure; eslint-plugin-jest does that, and the two are used together.

Facts that hold for every rule:

  • No options. Configure severity only.
  • Autofixable with eslint --fix. The fixer only inserts newlines; it never removes or moves code.
  • Only neighbouring statements in the same block are compared. The first statement in a block needs no blank line before it and the last needs none after it. One blank line is enough.
  • A statement counts as a Jest call when it starts with the identifier (describe(...), describe.each(...), await expect(...)), not when the identifier appears later (return expect(...), const p = describe(...)).
  • Works with ESLint 8, 9, and 10. Flat config (eslint.config.js) works on ESLint 8.57, 9, and 10. Legacy .eslintrc works on ESLint 8 and 9 only (9 needs ESLINT_USE_FLAT_CONFIG=false). Requires Node 22 or later. There is no Jest version requirement: nothing is imported from Jest.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
