Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00523 $0.00523
Opus 5 $0.00262 $0.00262
Sonnet 5 $0.00105 $0.00105
Haiku 4.5 $0.00052 $0.00052

Security

Grade A, and why

everything-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

Overview

MCP server for Everything, the blazing-fast Windows file search engine. Provides instant file/folder search through MCP by wrapping the es.exe command-line interface.

Platform: Windows only
Runtime: TypeScript on Bun (MCP SDK v2)

Development

bun install # Install dependencies
bun run src/index.ts # Run server locally (stdio)
bun test # Unit tests
bun run typecheck # tsc --noEmit
bun run build # Bundle → bundle/index.js (node-target, for the plugin)
bun run smoke # Live stdio initialize + tools/list

Architecture

TypeScript sources under src/, using @modelcontextprotocol/server v2:

  • createServer() (src/server.ts): Builds an McpServer and registerTools search + get_file_info with Zod input schemas
  • resolveEsPath() / executeEverything(): Absolute-path-only es.exe discovery and spawn
  • src/index.ts: serveStdio(() => createServer()) entrypoint
  • bundle/index.js: bun build output launched by .mcp.json via node (self-contained; no node_modules required at plugin runtime)

External Dependency

Requires es.exe (Everything command-line tool):

  • Default probe: Program Files / Program Files (x86) / WinGet Links / Scoop
  • Override via ES_PATH environment variable (must be absolute)

Tools

Tool Purpose
search Search files/folders with Everything syntax (wildcards, regex, size/date filters, sorting)
get_file_info Get file details (size, dates, attributes)

Everything Search Syntax Reference

  • Wildcards: *.txt, file?.doc
  • Boolean: file AND doc, txt OR doc, NOT backup
  • Extensions: ext:jpg;png;gif
  • Size: size:>1mb, size:1mb..10mb
  • Dates: dm:today, dc:lastweek, da:thismonth
  • Path: path:C:\Users\, parent:Downloads
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
