CLAUDE.md

Granola-to-Obsidian CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from dannymcc/Granola-to-Obsidian. It costs 2,639 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Instructions for an Obsidian plugin that syncs meeting notes from Granola AI into an Obsidian vault, which is a folder of linked notes. They describe the plugin structure and its main synchronization code.

In plain words
What is it for?
They are for maintaining the Obsidian plugin, handling its settings and authentication, retrieving meeting notes, and synchronizing them into daily notes.
Why use it?
They help an agent understand the plugin's single-file design and the path from fetching Granola documents to updating daily notes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02639 $0.02639
Opus 5 $0.01319 $0.01319
Sonnet 5 $0.00528 $0.00528
Haiku 4.5 $0.00264 $0.00264

Security

Grade A, and why

Granola-to-Obsidian CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

Granola Sync for Obsidian is an Obsidian plugin that automatically syncs meeting notes from Granola AI to an Obsidian vault. It's a standalone Obsidian plugin (not a bundled/compiled project) delivered as three main files: main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css.

  • Type: Obsidian plugin
  • Language: JavaScript (Node.js)
  • Size: main.js is ~2000 lines; all code in a single file
  • Version: Currently 1.6.3
  • Minimum Obsidian Version: 1.6.6

Architecture & Structure

Single-File Architecture

All plugin code lives in main.js (1994 lines) with two main classes:

  1. GranolaSyncPlugin (extends obsidian.Plugin)

    • Main plugin class handling lifecycle, initialization, and sync orchestration
    • Key methods:
      • onload() - Plugin initialization, ribbon icon, settings tab
      • syncNotes() - Main sync orchestration loop (fetches documents, processes them, updates daily notes)
      • loadCredentials() - Reads Granola auth token from local filesystem
      • fetchGranolaDocuments(token) - API call to get meeting notes list
      • fetchTranscript(token, docId) - Optional transcript fetching
      • processDocument(doc) - Converts Granola document to Obsidian note with markdown
      • updateDailyNote() / updatePeriodicNote() - Integrates today's meetings into daily notes
      • Auto-sync setup and interval management
  2. GranolaSyncSettingTab (extends obsidian.PluginSettingTab)

    • Settings UI panel with 25+ configurable options
    • Key settings:
      • syncDirectory - Where to save notes (default: "Granola")
      • filenameTemplate - Customizable note naming with tokens like {title}, {created_date}
      • dateFormat - Date formatting (YYYY-MM-DD, DD-MM-YYYY, etc.)
      • autoSyncFrequency - Auto-sync interval in milliseconds
      • includeAttendeeTags - Tag notes with meeting attendees
      • skipExistingNotes - Preserve manual edits in existing notes
      • enableGranolaFolders - Organize by Granola folder structure
      • existingNoteSearchScope - Search strategy for finding duplicates (sync dir, entire vault, or specific folders)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
