dash0-agent-plugin: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

dash0-agent-plugin AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from dash0hq/dash0-agent-plugin. It costs 662 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for the Dash0 coding-agent plugin. They explain where runtime code belongs, which documents to read, and which behaviour and privacy rules to preserve.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when modifying runtime integrations, event processing, hooks, commands, skills, configuration, or documentation in the plugin.
Why use it?
They reduce the risk of putting files in the wrong place or breaking telemetry, error handling, credentials, or privacy defaults while changing the repository.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00662 $0.00662
Opus 5.5 $0.00265 $0.00265
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00132 $0.00132
Haiku 4.5 $0.00066 $0.00066

Security

Grade A, and why

dash0-agent-plugin AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository guidance

This repository exports coding-agent activity as OpenTelemetry. It ships seven runtime integrations backed by shared Go code. Read ARCHITECTURE.md before changing package ownership or event processing, and DEVELOPMENT.md for coding conventions and verification commands.

Before changing code

  • Read the developer README for the affected runtime: Claude, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, OpenCode V2, Copilot app, or Amp.
  • Keep runtime payload translation in internal/source/<runtime>/, hook I/O and runtime orchestration in cmd/<runtime>-on-event/, and shared lifecycle behavior in internal/pipeline/. The architecture document describes the existing exceptions.
  • Keep shipped commands, skills, and hook registrations under their runtime directory. Do not create root commands/, skills/, or hooks/ directories; runtimes can auto-discover each other's files there.
  • Preserve observational hooks' fail-open behavior. Telemetry failures must not block the user's agent session. Install-time and utility subcommands have separate exit contracts.
  • Preserve privacy defaults and credential precedence. Use the shared harness configuration accessors rather than adding independent environment lookups. When adding a user-facing plugin option, update Claude's userConfig in .claude-plugin/plugin.json and its option table in .claude-plugin/README.md. The hosted userConfig check greps only cmd/claude-on-event/main.go and internal/harness/harness.go for literal accessor keys, so it does not cover the option table or options read elsewhere.
  • Each hook runs in a new process. Session state on disk, event ordering, and concurrent hook invocations matter; do not replace cross-event state with process-local variables.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
