dataiku-headless: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

dataiku-headless AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from dataiku/dataiku-headless. It costs 1,586 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for contributors working on Dataiku Headless, including where code lives, which documents to read, and how to make changes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when inspecting or changing the repository, especially its MCP server, tools, tests, and contributor documentation.
Why use it?
It gives a coding agent project-specific boundaries and sources of truth instead of relying on generic assumptions about the codebase.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01586 $0.01586
Opus 5.5 $0.00634 $0.00634
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00317 $0.00317
Haiku 4.5 $0.00159 $0.00159

Security

Grade A, and why

dataiku-headless AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Contributor Guide

Use this file when changing this repository. It is not an operating guide for using Dataiku through the plugin; that workflow starts in skills/dataiku-headless/SKILL.md.

Start here

  • Read CODING_STANDARDS_AND_STRUCTURE.md before changing code. It owns the detailed design, validation, async, release, and review conventions.
  • Read the files you will change, their tests, and the relevant skill reference before editing.
  • Inspect the worktree first and preserve unrelated changes.
  • Prefer the smallest coherent change. Do not add compatibility layers, new dependencies, or new public tools unless the task requires them.

Architecture and boundaries

  • dataiku_mcp/server.py constructs the FastMCP server, request middleware, and stdio/HTTP runners. dataiku_mcp/__init__.py re-exports that public server API and imports each tool module so decorators register their tools.
  • dataiku_mcp/tools/ contains thin adapters over the synchronous dataikuapi client. Shared client authentication and executors live at the package root; validation, serialization, and error helpers live under dataiku_mcp/tools/utils/.
  • dataiku_mcp/tools/cobuild.py owns retained Cobuild conversations. Cobuild is the default path for constructing or modifying project-level flow and analytic assets.
  • Cobuild owns construction and modification of project-level flow and analytic assets. Direct writes are allowed only for the fixed exception categories defined by the Cobuild Write-Routing Convention in CODING_STANDARDS_AND_STRUCTURE.md; do not infer permission for a new direct write from existing implementation.
  • skills/dataiku-headless/SKILL.md is the operator-facing router. Its references/ directory owns object-specific inspection, mutation, and verification workflows.
  • runtime/run_mcp.py is the entry point used by manifests through uv run --quiet. It owns the PEP 723 runtime metadata. Stdout is reserved for MCP JSON-RPC; diagnostics belong on stderr. runtime/launcher.sh is inactive legacy fallback code retained for possible future use.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
