About the project

Claude With Skills is a progressive course that teaches developers to create reusable, portable Agent Skills for Claude Code, from basic SKILL.md files to advanced automation and plugin packaging. It is intended for developers who want repeatable instructions and workflows instead of repeatedly pasting the same guidance. The catalogue contains the course's skills, agents, and instruction.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01038 $0.01038
Opus 5 $0.00519 $0.00519
Sonnet 5 $0.00208 $0.00208
Haiku 4.5 $0.00104 $0.00104

Measured 10d ago against content hash bcaf9bbe5d01, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-with-skills CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 85 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

claude-with-skills

A progressive course teaching Agent Skills for Claude Code, from anatomy to advanced orchestration patterns.

Repository layout

src/content/docs/ # All course content (also served as a Starlight site)
00-introduction/ # Conceptual foundation (what skills are, how they load)
01-basic/ # Anatomy, scopes, repetitive tasks, documentation, invocation
02-intermediate/ # Full frontmatter reference, arguments, dynamic context, combining options
03-advanced/ # Forked context, subagent wiring, orchestration, hooks, plugins, capstone
reference/ # Cheatsheets: frontmatter, substitutions, invocation matrix, headless, troubleshooting
scripts/ # install-examples.sh — copies a skill directory into personal or project scope
astro.config.mjs # Starlight site config (sidebar, base path)
src/content.config.ts # Content collection schema (extends Starlight to accept SKILL.md fields)

Each numbered section contains:

  • index.md — learning objectives and lesson index (rendered at /NN-<section>/)
  • lesson-NN-<topic>/index.md — concept explanation
  • lesson-NN-<topic>/examples/<skill-name>/SKILL.md — runnable skill
  • exercises/ — prompts with solutions/ subdirectory

README.md files at section/lesson roots were renamed to index.md so Starlight maps them to clean URLs. SKILL.md files keep their name because scripts/install-examples.sh requires it.

SKILL.md conventions

Every SKILL.md must have valid YAML frontmatter:

---
name: skill-name # lowercase, hyphens only, max 64 chars, matches directory name
description: ... # plain text, max 1024 chars, written for the model not for humans
---
  • Names: lowercase letters, digits, hyphens only. No underscores.
  • Descriptions: written so Claude can decide at startup whether to activate the skill — not marketing copy.
  • Body: keep under 500 lines / 5000 tokens. Move reference material to references/ subdirectories.
  • Claude Code-specific fields (disable-model-invocation, user-invocable, argument-hint, arguments, paths, shell, context, agent, hooks, model, effort) are documented in src/content/docs/reference/frontmatter-cheatsheet.md.
  • Course pages must include a title: field in their frontmatter (Starlight requirement). For SKILL.md, this sits alongside the existing name: and description: fields; Claude Code ignores extra frontmatter keys.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
