Written for Claude Code: ${CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR variable. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code.

This is design-and-deliver/claude-code-autoconfig's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on claude-code-autoconfig itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03929 $0.03929
Opus 5 $0.01965 $0.01965
Sonnet 5 $0.00786 $0.00786
Haiku 4.5 $0.00393 $0.00393

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-code-autoconfig CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

claude-code-autoconfig

CLI tool that auto-configures Claude Code for any project. One command analyzes your project, configures Claude, and shows you what it did.

Tech Stack

  • Runtime: Node.js (>=18.0.0)
  • Type: npm CLI package
  • Entry: bin/cli.js

Commands

npm test # Run ALL tests (full suite — see Testing Requirements below)
npm run test:box # Run box alignment tests only
npm run test:install # Run CLI install tests only

Project Structure

  • bin/cli.js — Main CLI entry point, handles bootstrap and /autoconfig launch
  • .claude/commands/ — Slash command definitions (/autoconfig, /autoconfig-update, etc.)
  • .claude/hooks/ — Hook scripts (format.js for JS/TS projects)
  • .claude/feedback/ — Team feedback and corrections
  • test/ — Test files

Publishing

npm version patch && npm publish

After publish, push the branch AND the release tag explicitly (the postversion changelog hook re-tags lightweight): git push origin main && git push origin v<x.y.z>.

Changelog is user-facing — write commits accordingly

CHANGELOG.md regenerates from commit subjects on every npm version, and the installer shows those bullets verbatim to users on upgrade (bin/update-summary.js). So:

  • Subjects may stay technical, but then the commit body MUST carry a plain-language trailer the changelog uses instead: Changelog: More reliable 'awaiting your reply' tab indicator. Write it for a CCA user, not a maintainer — name the visible outcome, never internals (no hook/regex/TDZ/function names).
  • Changelog: none (or skip) hides an internal-only commit from the changelog.
  • Keep the feat:/fix: conventional prefix on the subject — it drives the summary's "New features" vs "Fixes & improvements" grouping.
  • Already-pushed commits can't be reworded in git; add a row to OVERRIDES in scripts/generate-changelog.js instead (value null drops the bullet). New work never uses OVERRIDES — author the trailer.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
