PixelPilot uiux-ambient-awareness.instructions.md

PixelPilot uiux-ambient-awareness.instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from dev-lou/PixelPilot. It costs 4,394 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Guidance for building interfaces that adapt to battery level, light, network conditions, and device context. It also covers privacy, fallbacks, user controls, and limited sensor polling.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when implementing battery-aware animations, light-based themes, network-adaptive loading, and graceful behavior when sensors or browser APIs are missing.
Why use it?
It helps prevent an interface from wasting battery, loading poorly on slow connections, or adapting unexpectedly when device features are unavailable.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.04394 $0.04394
Opus 5 $0.02197 $0.02197
Sonnet 5 $0.00879 $0.00879
Haiku 4.5 $0.00439 $0.00439

Measured 4d ago against content hash 397a5c28542a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

PixelPilot uiux-ambient-awareness.instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 717 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Ambient Awareness

Great apps adapt to their environment. This file covers battery-aware UI, light sensor theming, network-adaptive loading, and respecting device context. The difference between "feels native" and "feels like a website."

CRITICAL RULES

  1. Progressive enhancement — These are optimizations, not requirements.
  2. Respect privacy — Never use sensors for tracking. Local only.
  3. Graceful fallback — Always have a default if API unavailable.
  4. User control — Let users override automatic behavior.
  5. Performance — Sensor polling must be throttled.

BATTERY-AWARE UI

Reduce animations and features when battery is low:

// batteryAwareness.ts
interface BatteryState {
  level: number;         // 0 to 1
  charging: boolean;
  chargingTime: number; // Seconds until full
  dischargingTime: number;
}

class BatteryManager {
  private battery: BatteryState | null = null;
  private listeners: Set<(state: BatteryState) => void> = new Set();
  private lowBatteryThreshold = 0.2; // 20%

  async init(): Promise<void> {
    if (!('getBattery' in navigator)) return;

    try {
      const battery = await (navigator as any).getBattery();

      this.updateState(battery);

      battery.addEventListener('chargingchange', () => this.updateState(battery));
      battery.addEventListener('levelchange', () => this.updateState(battery));
    } catch {
      // API not available
    }
  }

  private updateState(battery: any): void {
    this.battery = {
      level: battery.level,
      charging: battery.charging,
      chargingTime: battery.chargingTime,
      dischargingTime: battery.dischargingTime,
    };

    this.notifyListeners();
    this.applyOptimizations();
  }

  private applyOptimizations(): void {
    if (!this.battery) return;

    const isLowBattery = this.battery.level < this.lowBatteryThreshold && !this.battery.charging;

    document.documentElement.classList.toggle('low-battery', isLowBattery);
    document.documentElement.setAttribute('data-battery', isLowBattery ? 'low' : 'normal');
  }

  private notifyListeners(): void {
    if (!this.battery) return;
    this.listeners.forEach(fn => fn(this.battery!));
  }

  subscribe(fn: (state: BatteryState) => void): () => void {
    this.listeners.add(fn);
    if (this.battery) fn(this.battery);
    return () => this.listeners.delete(fn);
  }

  isLowBattery(): boolean {
    return this.battery
      ? this.battery.level < this.lowBatteryThreshold && !this.battery.charging
      : false;
  }

  getLevel(): number | null {
    return this.battery?.level ?? null;
  }
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
