avalonia-extensions: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/copilot-instructions.md

avalonia-extensions copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from Devolutions/avalonia-extensions. It costs 262 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for Avalonia Extensions, a project that builds custom themes for Avalonia desktop applications. They define which screenshot comparisons and functional tests are expected for each operating system.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing controls or theme appearance, updating screenshot baselines, or checking test coverage on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Why use it?
They prevent reviewers and coding agents from treating optional cross-platform screenshots as required, while preserving the tests needed for a theme's target platform.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00262 $0.00262
Opus 5.5 $0.00105 $0.00105
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00052 $0.00052
Haiku 4.5 $0.00026 $0.00026

Security

Grade A, and why

avalonia-extensions copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 26d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Visual regression coverage

  • Canonical screenshot coverage is required only on each theme's target platform:
    • Windows: DevExpress, WinUiClassic, and WinUiMica.
    • macOS: MacClassic and LiquidGlass.
    • Linux: Linux/Yaru.
  • Do not flag missing cross-platform screenshot baselines as missing test coverage. For example, a WinUI control PR with Windows baseline coverage does not require macOS or Linux baseline PNGs.
  • Target-platform coverage remains important for new controls and intentional appearance changes. This policy does not waive functional tests.
  • Pages marked "same as reference" are tested by directly comparing both rendered themes. They do not require a separate stored PNG for the delegating variant.
  • Screenshots/Baseline/{TargetOS}/{Theme}/ holds tracked canonical images. Screenshots/LocalBaselines/{OS}/{Theme}/ holds gitignored personal images for optional all-theme local development.
  • Until the planned GitHub workflows generate canonical images, --update-baselines updates personal images for every selected theme and copies only native target-platform images into the tracked canonical tree.
  • See the Testing section for commands and behavior.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
