engineering-skill: Instructions file for Claude Code

AGENTS.md

engineering-skill AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode from DinoQuinten/engineering-skill. It costs 533 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a shared collection of coding-agent skills, including its file layout, build and test commands, naming rules, and packaging details.

In plain words
What is it for?
They help maintain skill source files, lifecycle hooks, plugin metadata, tests, and generated packages.
Why use it?
They give contributors a known way to edit, test, and package the repository instead of relying on undocumented conventions.

Written for Claude Code and Codex and OpenCode: Claude Code plugin machinery, but also the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions Claude Code; mentions Codex; mentions OpenCode.

This is DinoQuinten/engineering-skill's own configuration. It tells Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode how to work on engineering-skill itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00533 $0.00533
Opus 5 $0.00267 $0.00267
Sonnet 5 $0.00107 $0.00107
Haiku 4.5 $0.00053 $0.00053

Security

Grade A, and why

engineering-skill AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository Guidelines

Project Structure & Module Organization

This repository packages shared discipline skills for Codex, Claude Code, Pi, and OpenCode.

  • skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md is the source of truth; optional agents/openai.yaml files provide discovery metadata.
  • hooks/inject-skills.mjs and hooks/hooks.json implement lifecycle injection for Codex and Claude Code.
  • extensions/always-active.js provides the native Pi integration.
  • .codex-plugin/, .claude-plugin/, and .agents/plugins/ contain plugin and marketplace metadata.
  • test/ contains behavior tests. docs/superpowers/ holds design and implementation documents; docs-used.md records documentation sources.
  • Generated *.skill bundles and socia-media/ marketing drafts are ignored; edit the shared skill sources.

Build, Test, and Development Commands

Run commands from the repository root with Node.js on PATH:

  • node --test test/inject-skills.test.mjs test/pi-package.test.mjs runs the complete existing suite.
  • node --test test/inject-skills.test.mjs checks lifecycle injection independently.
  • node --test test/pi-package.test.mjs checks Pi packaging and prompt injection.

There is no build step, development server, dependency installation requirement, or npm script configured. Follow README.md for local host installation and smoke checks; edit this checkout rather than installed plugin caches.

Coding Style & Naming Conventions

Follow existing JavaScript ES modules: two-space indentation, single-quoted strings, semicolons, camelCase functions, and uppercase constants. Use lowercase kebab-case skill directories and descriptive *.test.mjs filenames. Preserve Markdown front matter and concise headings in skills. No formatter or linter is configured.

Testing Guidelines

Tests use node:test and node:assert/strict; no coverage threshold is configured. Add behavior tests for injector changes, covering emitted context, host selection, personal-skill precedence, and missing files. Use temporary fixtures and clean them up. Verify full context delivery in affected hosts after skill changes.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
