veracode-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

veracode-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from dipsylala/veracode-mcp. It costs 1,956 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Unlicense.

Repository instructions for a Go server that lets AI assistants use Veracode security scanning. They describe how to build its Go code and React user interfaces and how to run quality checks and tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing this repository, especially for full builds, quick builds, UI-only builds, test runs, formatting, and Go quality checks.
Why use it?
They give the coding agent the project-specific commands and checks needed to build and test the server correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01956 $0.01956
Opus 5.5 $0.00782 $0.00782
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00391 $0.00391
Haiku 4.5 $0.00196 $0.00196

Security

Grade A, and why

veracode-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Overview

This is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server implementation in Go that provides Veracode security scanning capabilities to AI assistants and LLMs. It supports stdio transport for local filesystem operations and uses JSON-RPC 2.0 for communication.

Building and Testing

Build Commands

# Full build with UI, quality checks, and tests
.\build.ps1

# Quick build (skip quality checks)
.\build.ps1 -Quick

# Build without tests
.\build.ps1 -NoTest

# Skip UI builds (Go server only)
.\build.ps1 -SkipUI

# UI only build
.\build.ps1 -UIOnly

# Verbose test output
.\build.ps1 -Verbose

The build script performs these steps:

  1. Builds 5 React UI apps (pipeline/static/dynamic/local-sca/local-iac findings)
  2. Runs go fmt ./...
  3. Runs go vet (excludes /api/generated/)
  4. Runs golangci-lint run (if available)
  5. Runs go test ./...
  6. Builds binary to dist/veracode-mcp.exe

Manual Build

go mod download
go build -o dist/veracode-mcp.exe .

Testing

go test ./... # All tests
go test ./... -v # Verbose output
go test ./internal/mcp_tools/... # Specific package

Architecture

Auto-Registration Pattern

This codebase uses an auto-registration architecture where tools register themselves on package import via init() functions. There are three coordinated registries:

  1. ToolRegistry (internal/tool_registry/tool_loader.go)

    • Loads tool definitions from tools.json (embedded at compile time)
    • Validates parameter schemas
    • Provides tool metadata to MCP clients
  2. ToolHandlerRegistry (internal/tool_registry/tool_handlers.go)

    • Maps tool names to handler functions
    • Runtime tool invocation
  3. ToolImplRegistry (internal/tool_registry/tool_implementations.go)

    • Manages tool lifecycle: Initialize → RegisterHandlers → Shutdown
    • Factory-based instantiation

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
