discogs-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

discogs-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from DirtyDimmy/discogs-mcp. It costs 1,193 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of discogs-mcp CLAUDE.md, MIT.

A set of instructions for AI-assisted work on Discogs MCP, a server that lets assistants access a user's Discogs music collection. It documents the project's commands, structure, and recurring coding patterns.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing the server, including its Discogs API login, music-collection search, recommendations, Cloudflare Workers deployment, tests, linting, and type generation.
Why use it?
It gives an assistant the project context needed to run, test, format, build, and deploy the server consistently.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01193 $0.01193
Opus 5 $0.00596 $0.00596
Sonnet 5 $0.00239 $0.00239
Haiku 4.5 $0.00119 $0.00119

Measured 5d ago against content hash 60be3ac609f3, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

discogs-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project

Discogs MCP — a Cloudflare Workers MCP server that lets AI assistants interact with users' Discogs music collections. Implements OAuth 1.0a authentication against the Discogs API, intelligent search with mood mapping, and context-aware recommendations. Deployed at discogs-mcp.com (locked to maintainer; users must self-host).

Commands

npm run dev # Local dev server on port 8787
npm run build # Dry-run build (wrangler deploy --dry-run)
npm test # Vitest with Cloudflare Workers pool
npm test -- path/to/file # Single test file
npm test -- --watch # Watch mode
npm run lint # ESLint (must pass before every commit)
npm run format # Prettier --write
npm run format:check # Prettier --check
npm run deploy # Deploy to dev environment
npm run deploy:prod # Deploy to production
npm run cf-typegen # Regenerate Cloudflare Workers types

Architecture

Entry point: src/index-oauth.ts — routes requests through OAuthProvider which handles OAuth endpoints, then delegates MCP traffic to the server created by src/mcp/server.ts.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
