NetStoneMCP: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

NetStoneMCP CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from dks50217/NetStoneMCP. It costs 966 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository instruction file for Claude Code, describing how to build and test the NetStoneMCP .NET server. It also explains how the server connects to language models and how to run its sample clients.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build the server, run all tests or one named test, start the server, and run the Discord or Windows client samples.
Why use it?
It gives the coding agent the project's commands and structure instead of making it guess how to work with the repository.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00966 $0.00966
Opus 5 $0.00483 $0.00483
Sonnet 5 $0.00193 $0.00193
Haiku 4.5 $0.00097 $0.00097

Security

Grade A, and why

NetStoneMCP CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

dotnet run --project src/NetStoneMCP.csproj

# Run all tests
dotnet test tests/NetStoneMCP.Tests/NetStoneMCP.Tests.csproj

# Run a single test by name

# Run the Discord bot sample
dotnet run --project sample/NetStoneDiscordBot/NetStoneDiscordBot.csproj

# Run the WPF client sample (Windows only)
dotnet run --project sample/NetStoneClient/NetStoneClient.csproj

Architecture

This is a .NET 8 MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that exposes FFXIV Lodestone data as LLM-callable tools. The solution file is at src/NetStoneMCP.sln.

Transport

Controlled by TransportType in src/appsettings.json. "SSE" runs as an HTTP server (app.MapMcp()); anything else (or omitted) uses stdio transport for direct MCP client integration (e.g., Claude Desktop).

Tool/Service pattern

Every feature follows the same pattern:

  • src/Tools/ — Classes decorated with [McpServerToolType]. Each public method decorated with [McpServerTool] becomes an MCP-callable tool. Tools receive services via constructor injection and return DTOs.
  • src/Services/ — Interface + implementation pairs registered in Program.cs. Services do the actual HTTP calls or library calls. NetStoneService is a singleton wrapping the LodestoneClient (must be initialized via InitializeAsync() on startup). All other HTTP services use AddHttpClient<>.
  • src/Model/ — DTO record/class types returned by tools.
  • src/Dict/ — Static lookup dictionaries (e.g., race names, housing data).
  • src/Const/ — Enum-like constant classes.

Services and their data sources

Service Data Source
NetStoneService NetStone library → FFXIV Lodestone (characters, FC, linkshells)
CommonService PaissaDB API (worlds/datacenters), ffxiv.com.tw (CHT server status)
PaissaHouseService FFXIV_PaissaHouse API
StoreService FFXIV Store
XIVAPIService XIVAPI (item data)
LodeStoneNewsService lodestonenews.com
ThaliakService thaliak.xiv.dev (game versions)
NoteService Local in-memory storage
CustomService GitHub API via Octokit (CHT patch releases)
FFXIVCollectService ffxivcollect.com (mounts, minions, emotes, hairstyles, spells, etc.)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
