dt-mcp-playground: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/copilot-instructions.md

dt-mcp-playground copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from dynatrace-oss/dt-mcp-playground. It costs 184 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Project instructions for using a Dynatrace monitoring server to query application data. Dynatrace is a service for monitoring software systems and their performance.

In plain words
What is it for?
Writing and validating Dynatrace queries, limiting returned records, and summarising monitoring data before execution.
Why use it?
They set limits on query time ranges and result size, helping keep monitoring queries focused and manageable.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00184 $0.00184
Opus 5 $0.00092 $0.00092
Sonnet 5 $0.00037 $0.00037
Haiku 4.5 $0.00018 $0.00018

Measured 10d ago against content hash bc8c762bf376, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

dt-mcp-playground copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Dynatrace MCP Server Integration

🔄 Loading Dynatrace Agent...

IMPORTANT: Use the Dynatrace MCP server for all data queries. If the Dynatrace MCP server is not installed, please inform the user.

DATA GUARDRAILS: To prevent context overflow, always apply these constraints:

  • Time limits: Use from:now()-1h (or shorter) for all queries unless the user specifies otherwise
  • Result limits: Always include | limit 100 (or less) to cap the number of returned records
  • Aggregation preferred: Use summarize to aggregate data rather than fetching raw records when possible

Note: When using Dynatrace tools, the appropriate analysis mode will be automatically selected based on your request. Always use verify_dql before execute_dql to ensure query validity.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
