cardano-unified-mcp-server: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

cardano-unified-mcp-server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from easy1staking-com/cardano-unified-mcp-server. It costs 780 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Project instructions and setup notes for an MCP server that searches and serves Cardano developer documentation. Cardano is a blockchain platform, and MCP is a standard for connecting AI tools to external services.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for building the TypeScript server, importing documentation into a searchable database, running it locally or over HTTP, and adding documentation sources.
Why use it?
It puts build, run, indexing, and project-structure guidance in one place, so contributors know how the server and its documentation source fit together.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00780 $0.00780
Opus 5 $0.00390 $0.00390
Sonnet 5 $0.00156 $0.00156
Haiku 4.5 $0.00078 $0.00078

Measured 10d ago against content hash 03f528636e55, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

cardano-unified-mcp-server CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CLAUDE.md — Project Instructions

Build & Run

npm run build # TypeScript → dist/
npm run ingest # Read vendored skills content → chunk + embed → SQLite
npm run start # MCP server (stdio mode)
npm run start:http # MCP server (HTTP mode)

Architecture in one line

This server is the search + embedding + MCP transport layer over content curated by cardano-dev-skills. Skills is the source of truth for what to index; this repo is the source of truth for how to chunk + index + serve it.

The skills dependency

  • Path: SKILLS_PATH env var, default ../cardano-dev-skills (sibling clone).
  • Registry: ${SKILLS_PATH}/registry/sources.yaml — list of indexed sources with glob_patterns, format, format_overrides.
  • Vendored content: ${SKILLS_PATH}/docs/sources/<slug>/ — pre-fetched markdown/MDX/Aiken/Python/RST/etc. files, ready to chunk.
  • Workflow skills: ${SKILLS_PATH}/skills/*/SKILL.md — each one is exposed as both an MCP prompt and via the get_skill tool.

The loader (src/config/sources.ts) reads the registry. The fetcher (src/ingest/fetcher.ts) reads vendored content directly — no git clones at ingest time.

Adding a new documentation source

Open a PR against cardano-dev-skills, not this repo. The skills repo enforces the acceptance criteria (active maintenance, build-on-Cardano scope, permissive license) and runs the fetch step that vendors the content. This server will pick the new source up automatically on the next Sunday indexer run.

When adding a source to skills' registry, match the format field to the actual file extensions being indexed (the chunker dispatches on these):

  • .ak files → format: aiken (splits on fn, type, validator, const)
  • .py files → format: python (splits on class, def, async def)
  • .md files → format: markdown (splits on # headings)
  • .mdx files → format: mdx (markdown + JSX stripping)
  • .rst files → format: rst
  • .yaml/.yml/.json files → format: openapi
  • .toml files → format: toml

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
