AGENTS.md

yutu AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from eat-pray-ai/yutu. It costs 564 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for Yutu, a Go command-line program and MCP server for YouTube, with guidance on its folders, build systems, tests, documentation, and project conventions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Building and testing Yutu, locating command and domain code, running smoke tests, maintaining Bazel files, managing dependencies, and following the repository's documentation and secret-file conventions.
Why use it?
They give developers one place to find the correct build and test commands and understand where different parts of the project belong. They also warn about generated build files and project-specific configuration.

This is eat-pray-ai/yutu's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on yutu itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything yutu configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00564 $0.00564
Opus 5 $0.00282 $0.00282
Sonnet 5 $0.00113 $0.00113
Haiku 4.5 $0.00056 $0.00056

Measured 8d ago against content hash 5bd8398961c2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

yutu AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Conventions

  • Secrets: client_secret.json and youtube.token.json in root (standard for this project).
  • Build System: Bazel is primary, standard Go tools also work.
  • BUILD.bazel files are auto-generated — do NOT create or edit them manually. Run bazel run //:gazelle to regenerate.
  • After changing dependencies: bazel run @rules_go//go -- mod tidy -v && bazel mod tidy.
  • See docs/CONTRIBUTING.md for the full list of useful build/test/release commands.

Adding a New YouTube Resource

Every new resource package under pkg/ and cmd/ must also be registered in:

  1. main.go — add a blank import (_ "github.com/eat-pray-ai/yutu/cmd/<resource>").
  2. internal/tools/skillgen/main.go — add a blank import and a categoryMap entry.
  3. internal/tools/cmdtestgen/main.go — add a blank import.
  4. cmd/agent/agents.go — add the resource's MCP tool names to the appropriate agent definition (Aagje for read-only, Knorretje for create/update, Daan for delete).
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
