figma-mcp CLAUDE.md

figma-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from echobt/figma-mcp. It costs 3,573 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Instructions for an MCP server that reads Figma .fig files, the file format used to store Figma design documents, and extracts design and layout information.

In plain words
What is it for?
They are for working on the server’s parser, layout inference, SVG renderer, and related utilities for inspecting Figma files.
Why use it?
They explain the project structure and file formats so an agent can understand designs and use them as implementation guidance.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03573 $0.03573
Opus 5 $0.01786 $0.01786
Sonnet 5 $0.00715 $0.00715
Haiku 4.5 $0.00357 $0.00357

Measured 5d ago against content hash 15af13b0bf56, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

figma-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Fig MCP Server

Project Overview

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for parsing .fig files. This enables AI assistants to understand and extract design information from the .fig file format for implementation guidance.

Architecture

Core Components

  1. Parser (src/parser/)

    • fig-reader.ts - ZIP archive extraction using Central Directory (handles data descriptors)
    • kiwi-parser.ts - Binary kiwi format parsing with deflate + zstd decompression
    • layout-inference.ts - Converts raw node data to structured layout information
    • types.ts - TypeScript type definitions for .fig document structure
  2. MCP Server (src/mcp/)

    • server.ts - MCP server implementation with tools for querying fig files
  3. Utilities

    • inspect-fig.ts - CLI tool for inspecting fig files during development
    • test-parser.ts - Local tool-flow test harness for image tools
  4. Renderer (src/renderer/)

    • render-screen.ts - Main SVG renderer for node subtrees
    • render-types.ts - TypeScript types for rendering
    • render-utils.ts - Transform, path building, and XML utilities
    • paint-utils.ts - Paint/fill/stroke handling
    • vector-renderer.ts - Vector path decoding and rendering
    • screenshot.ts - SVG to PNG conversion via resvg
    • index.ts - Public exports for the renderer module
  5. Web Viewer (src/web-viewer/)

    • server.ts - HTTP server wrapping existing parser/renderer
    • build-client.ts - esbuild bundler for client code
    • client/ - Browser-based UI (index.html, styles.css, viewer.ts)

File Format Details

.fig Archive Structure

.fig files are ZIP archives. Important: They use data descriptors (flag bit 3), so sizes must be read from Central Directory, not local headers.

Contents:

  • canvas.fig - Main document data (kiwi binary format, compressed)
  • meta.json - File metadata (name, background color, etc.)
  • thumbnail.png - Preview image
  • images/ - Image assets (hash-named files)
  • videos/ - Video assets (if any)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
