code-overhaul-skill: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

code-overhaul-skill CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from ehmo/code-overhaul-skill. It costs 404 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for code-overhaul, an opinionated interactive audit of a codebase. They describe the skill's files, review workflow, supported technology areas, writing style, and commit practices.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when modifying the code-overhaul skill, its command entry point, installation scripts, evaluation materials, or technology-specific review sections.
Why use it?
They give contributors one reference for where the audit logic lives and how it should be changed. This reduces inconsistent edits and keeps user-facing guidance direct and specific.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00404 $0.00404
Opus 5.5 $0.00162 $0.00162
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00081 $0.00081
Haiku 4.5 $0.00040 $0.00040

Security

Grade A, and why

code-overhaul-skill CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

code-overhaul

Opinionated, interactive health audit for a codebase. Challenges scope, picks the highest-leverage changes, files deferred work through beads.

Structure

  • skills/code-overhaul/SKILL.md -- the full protocol (Preflight, Step 0, five review sections, stack addendums, outputs).
  • commands/code-overhaul.md -- slash command entry point.
  • install.sh / uninstall.sh -- symlinks into ~/.claude/.
  • skills/code-overhaul/eval/ -- rubric, grader prompt, and scenarios used to verify the skill.

Conventions

User-facing text must avoid AI writing patterns. Keep language direct and specific. No promotional phrasing, no filler. Lead with the action. Directive verbs (must, do, stop) are reserved for the skill's instructions to the agent, not for the README or CLAUDE notes.

Editing the skill

The skill file is self-contained: one SKILL.md with a generic section and three stack-specific addendums (iOS/Swift, Go, Web/JS/CSS). When adding a new addendum:

  1. Add it under a new ## Addendum: <stack> heading at the end of the file.
  2. Document its triggers (file globs, manifest files).
  3. Mirror the five review sections (Step 0, Architecture, Code quality, Tests, Performance, Modernization) so the generic structure still holds.
  4. Add a Summary row specific to the stack.
  5. Add at least one anti-pattern.

Keep the generic section short. Addendums carry the stack-specific depth.

After changing SKILL.md, re-run the grader in eval/GRADER.md against eval/RUBRIC.md to confirm the skill still passes.

Commit hygiene

Do not add Co-Authored-By trailers for AI tools. Commits list human authors only.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
